Wheel play after parking brake shoe install
Hey guys
I just replaced my old OEM parking brake shoes with new ones and upon reassembly I noticed There’s play in my passenger side rear wheel. My bushings and wheel bearings seemed to be in good shape prior to this install, y’all have any idea what this play might be coming from? likely I screwed something up during the install of the new parking brake shoes, the brake caliper and wheel are torqued to spec.

Welcome- if everything is torqued to spec, my bet would be on the wheel bearing. How many miles are on your car? Was the wheel bearing ever changed?
Hey man thanks for the prompt response, my car has 118K on it now, it’s seen lots of spirited driving and Autocross driving, plus fast highway cruising. I re-checked the wheel and it seems the play is mostly limited to the hub but given the hub was fine prior to install, I really really doubt it’s the hub....I’m very confused.

As long as the wheel-to-hub interface is flawless, there's not much else to consider. Is the wheel bearing properly installed from the spindle side?
Good ideas there, I’ll disassemble the whole thing again to see if there’s any interference between the hub, rotor, and wheel then I’ll report back. I’m very sure the wheel bearing itself is secure as I’ve never touched those bolts.
I did find the problem unfortunately it looks like it’s the wheel bearings. I think it had went unnoticed for some time because Almost everytime I get the car in the air I pull up the hand brake and throw it in gear....This locks the wheel in place so you won’t notice your hub bearings are going out
Lesson here is When testing your wheel bearings, bushings, and ball joints for play ALWAYS take parking brake off and make sure the car is in neutral this allows the you To get a much more accurate assessment of the condition of your wheel bearings.
