Default Stoptech support ??

I wonder if this even exists ? I left a message for Matt Weiss (customer service person) at Stoptech over 2 days ago, and I have yet to even get a return call... if this is how these guys handle business I would not be buying anything from them.

All I need is a stupid bolt and its holding up my whole entire brake job. Its a good thing Performance Nissan is around to cover for Stoptech's poor customer service...and they sent me the bolt I need (at my cost of course)...

Be sure that if you go with Stoptech that your support may be poor or non-existent ! I thought everyone should know... and I doubt I would recommend them to any friends due to this one stupid problem. I realize its the holidays, but I did stress the importance of my problem, and I think 2 days is plenty of time to take 5 minutes to return my call and respond to my problem.

Hmm. Actually you are the first one who complained about Stoptech's customer service. Stoptech is well known for their incredible customer service. I have their 4-wheel kit and their customer service was beyond my imagination.. I called and asked for the question during the install and they even called me back in 2 hours later to make sure and check everything has put together correctly and working fine!
Since they can't be always perfect, (they are human afterall, lol) maybe they could make some mistakes here and there. Give them another try and I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

onecolee,
I just talked to my customer service manager about this (Matt). He said that before he got back to you about your voicemial on Monday, Jason at Performance Nissan had already left him a message saying that he had taken care of you.

This is precisely the type of support we expect from our dealers. If you buy from an authorized reseller, they are the first line of defense on tech support issues, and you should be calling them first. That said, we strive to solve all problems in a timely manner, and go above and beyond to make our customers happy. I'm sorry that your install was delayed. We are doing our best to serve our customers.

OK, Jason at P.N. did take care of me, but at my expense... it cost me $40 for a Banjo bolt ($6) and overnight shipping ($34)--kind of expensive to replace 1 single bolt.

Originally, I thought I might have received a defective bolt to begin with which Jason could not determine for me over the phone, and was still expecting to hear from Matt since I did call him and leave him a detailed message.

I guess its all a slight miscommunication issue, and Jason never told me that he spoke with you guys, so, I really thought I was left hanging and was expected to pay to replace what potentially could be a defective part.

Now that I have the replacement and have paid the fees to have it overnighted to me, do you want to look at the bolt that broke ? I will gladly send it to you for your analysis...

Sorry for the misunderstanding, and let me know if you can do anything to offset my costs to Performance Nissan.

Thanks.

Onecolee,
We'll definitely look into this for you. I'll have Matt call you today. Please PM me your number so I'm sure we have it. Again, sorry for any inconvenience. Thanks.

All better now, Matt called me last night in the middle of my pad/rotor bedding cycles. It was all a misunderstanding and small miscommunication. Everything is cool now, and it was nice to know that Stoptech was concerned about my problem and my experience with their products...

Jritt, thanks for taking care of this...

Man this is how companys get a bad name. Don't come on a message board slamming a company cause you didn't get a call in 2 days. All it would have taken was another call to them probably. I also had excellent service from Stoptech as my dealer told me about a possible issue even before I got my kit and gave me options to fix it so I was prepared.

I work for a company that has excellent customer service and support, and most callbacks are made within 2 hours--MAX. I think waiting for 2 days for a response is a little long, don't you ??

Don't come in here pissing on my thread, and try to tell me that 2 days is an acceptible wait for a response with my car on jack stands for over 5 days. I got the parts I needed and I did get a call back from Stoptech, and now I understand why I didn't get that call until after a couple days. I feel that I did the right thing and said that everything was cleared up now, and that I did receive a call... I realize that the squeeky wheel usually gets oiled, but my intention here was to find out what was going on, and if others had similar problems, and in no way was my intention to slam Stoptech. Also, a 2nd call by a customer should never be necessary, ever...and that seems more like begging than anything else...

Nevertheless, everything is fine now, my car is back on the road, and everything is working like it should...

I am with you on this one onecoolee!

If my car with just sitting on stands with a new brake kit I couldn't install, I would be beyond pissed off.

I think you handled and reported your experience like a gentlemen. There was a miscommunication and you were the one left out.

How do you like your new brakes?

I need to bleed them again, b/c they still feel a little soft... but they are quiet, and feel pretty good, and look great.

Oh yeah, thanks for taking my side too...

Just to clear things up in terms of product feedback...I don't believe you are even using our big brake kit, just our brake lines. Is this correct Onecoolee? Thanks.

Right...thanks for bringing that up. I am using just the Stoptech brake lines, which are very nice, easy to install and fit the stock brake line interface very well !

I guess I need to change my signature...which should now include Stoptech stainless brake lines, Brembo Front and Rear Calipers, 2 piece Stillen front rotors and Brembo Sport rear rotors and Hawk HPS brake pads.

Sorry for any confusion...

That is not Stoptechs problem that you had your car on jack stands for 5 days. Show me where on their site they advertise 24 hour customer support. I am just saying maybe you should cut a company some slack before slamming them on a public board.

Geesh, you don't give up... I called them Monday morning and never heard back from them until last night (wednesday). The problem occurred over the weekend on Saturday, and I waited to call during the normal work week... I never claimed I expected 24 hour customer service. I did call during the week.

Maybe, since your brake upgrade went so well, all you can do is criticise those who didn't have as much luck as you...

I posted a follow-up to my original message to let everyone know that I was called back and that everything was ok now, and if you chose to not read far enough in the thread to find the result, that is your business... but all I can say is that you need to put yourself in my situation and see what you would do, with your ride on jack stands for 5 days.

How do you like public transportation buddy ? Hmm lets see which I prefer, my Z or the bus. Come on, grow up, get over it, and move on... everyone that reads the whole thread will see that Stoptech called me and worked things out, enough said !!!

Well if I couldn't install my new setup, I would put the old stuff back on, and drive my car. I don't think you realize how bad your first post looks:

Stoptech support ?? I wonder if this even exists?

I realize you are happy with your Stoptechs now, but I am trying to prevent this from happening in the future. I mean I don't want anyone getting sued for libel when they post slams on other companies in this forum.

King Tut... geesh, like I said, if you have the sense to read on and read the complete thread, you will know that the problem is solved--and ENOUGH SAID, MEANS ENOUGH SAID !!!

Exactly what I am talking about. It was not a Stoptech brake issue. It was a bolt issue with the stainless steel brake lines. Here is the issue from his post:

My other problem is that I seem to have gotten a defective bolt (at least I think it was defective) from StopTech with my new lines. I tourqued the front 2 according to the specs on their website for brake lines and the bolt snapped in the middle... I was able to remove the broken part from the caliper. Since its Saturday and Stoptech is closed and alot of their distributors were closed too, I called Jason at Performance Nissan for help... he is overnighting me a bolt on Monday, but that does delay my repairs for a copuple days, as I was hoping to be using Monday and Tuesday as days to get a few miles on the new brakes... oh well.

Here is the thread:

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....hreadid=102211

It is obvious I can't change your view on the situation, so I give up. I will leave this thread with the fact that I have seen a person get sued for making libel comments about a company on a public message forum. I don't want to see that happen here. That is all.

FYI ... I Spoke with Matt at Stoptech, and he said that they get the banjo bolts for their stainless lines from another supplier and that they do get occasional defects. They only do a select sampling of these bolts, so a bad one does slip through every now and then AND this has happened before and I probably got one of the occasional bad ones...he doesn't know for sure, and neither do I, but when I was tightening it, it easily snapped.

That is what I know, and that is what I was told by Stoptech's support.

This whole situation is cleared up now and I am fully satisfied, even though I paid $40 for a bolt.

I've had awesome service from STOPTECH. I made the same mistake of breaking the banjo bolt. I actually broke both of them and they were both stuck in the big ol STOPTECH caliper.

I called them up on a late Saturday and to my surprise someone picked up. The guy wasn't even a tech, but he knew how to fix the problem. He thoroughly explained step-by-step the procedure for using an extractor tool to get out the stuck bolt.

A happy STOPTECH customer,
Victor
