Default Rear suspension removal? Anyone do their own?

So I've pulled out all the plastic pieces covering the rear stamped steel brace and shock housing but I can't seem to find any room to get a wrench on the upper shock perch. Am I missing something? Do I need to remove the black metal support piece (the one with about 10 cad plated bolts going through it)?
I have a damaged shock so I need to get it out to fix it asap before next weeks California Speedway NASA event. Any help or advice is appreciated. cheers,

I did shocks, springs and sway - front and rear eight months ago and didn't find it that difficult, especially the rear. You are describing some things in the rear that I can't recall having to do.

Somewhere are this site, you could do a "search" using Koni shocks under "suspension" and something would come up, but that has been months ago.

If you are a member of www.zchickz.com you will find the help you need in their "Garage" section.

You remove the rear shocks from UNDER the car, in the tirewell. No need to disassemble the interior

Two nuts from the top, and one nut/bolt on the bottom of the shock.

Yep, you can't get a wrench on them, but a socket and extenstion work great. If you got adjustable shocks, then you will have to remove some plastic in the interior to adjust them.

Yeah..all the plastics out. I getting some strange clunking and squeaking under load coming from back there. Not sure if it's blown but I don't think I want to do a track event on it.
Anyone know of an HKS rebuild shop in socal?
