Painting your calipers ??
I have the Lemans Sunset (burnt orange) color Z, 18" wheels. Can't picture a color that will look good on the calipers with that body color? Help me out. ANy of you done yours with the burnt orange color body? What paint do you use too? My buddy used a white and orange engine block paint that looked pretty good on his white and orange cutlass. Lets hear what you got for Huck
well i have a redline and i painted mine red. you get the paint at any auto parts store it high temp. paint. i think it looks good. Be sure you dont get any paint on the abs sensors or you'll have some problems
I have a Chrome Silver Z and I am having a similar problem, but kind of the opposite really.
Red would look good, so would a DB knockoff, silver wouldnt be that bad either though.
I kinda want to find a chrome-like silver (like REALLY shiny) and use that. Anybody know where I could find a paint like that?
lol, sorry for the thread jack.

I painted them with spray an they look great. But If I had too much time to waste, I would take them off and paint them completly. IMO I dont think it would make too much of a differnece. OH BTW if you paint them I highly recomend caliper decals.
As soon as I decide exactly what I'm going to do I will do a write -up with pic by pic action , lol. The chrome paint sounds like a good idea. Only problem would be finding a good chrome paint that will hold up to the heat.
Someone said "G2 Paint", where would I get that . Never seen it.

Here's a write up I posted on a local forum last year (Original Post) , using G2 Paint. I put on JVD decals after. Basically the instructions from the G2 box.
Quick instructions...
1. use supplied cleaner to spray/clean the calipers (Spray on and have some old newspaper underneath to collect drips/dirt. Use the whole can). Let the calipers air dry or wipe dry with a towel.
- I used the air compressor to blow them dry, and there was almost no dirt/dust remaining to wipe off.
2. Add reactor to paint and mix. Let stand for 5 mins then stir again.
3. Apply thin coat and re-apply after 15 mins The temp should be 13-24deg for first coat to be relatively dry (I waited about 30 mins between coats, and did 3 total).
4. Let paint dry for 2 hours before putting tires back and allow 24 hours before driving.
Additional tips:
If you can take off all four tires, it will save you quite a bit of time. The instructions say the paint will start to harden in 4 hours, so you're on a bit of a time table, although I found the extra paint was still in good shape after 4 hours. I disassembled the calipers and took out the pads & Clips to cut down on the taping required, then put the first coat on all four calipers (15mins each).
By the time I was finished the fourth caliper, I was pretty much ready to start the second coat, so I kept going around the car for three coats. I probably could have gone with a fourth, but I was happy with the appearance and tired of painting .
If you do take the calipers apart, I always put a bit of Anti-seize compound on the bolts before I put them back in, just to keep them from rusting and locking up over time. The rear bolts already had some grease on them, but the fronts were dry.
Also, Consider wearing gloves and clothing your not too attached too. I got some paint on my hands, legs and shorts, and that stuff does not come off.
Good luck.

Prices I charge are
$125 basic coating, including shipping
$100 to sand the visible parts of the brakes smooth before powdercoating
$ 15 for JVD Caliper stickers
$200 refundable core charge for exchange program. Due to slow returns in the past, I have put this restriction on the core charge. You have 2 weeks after receiving the brakes to get the old ones back in shipping. After 2 weeks, core refund will decrease by $10 / day until they are shipped. 2 weeks should be plenty of time to get them installed.
