? for Stoptech BBK owners w/Hawks
Did a search, but was unable to find anyone with both a Stoptech BBK and Hawk pads, who ALSO did such a good job of break-in/bedding the pads that the oft-b***hed-about squeaking/screetching of the Hawks never became an issue. How did you bed in the pads?
I have a Stoptech kit on order and subbed the Hawks in place of the Axxis pads, and I want to be ready when the kit arrives.
Thanks for any help.

1) did (4) 40-10mph slowdowns with medium brake apply
2) did (2) 60-10mph slowdowns with heavy brake apply
3) drove car for 15 minutes with no brake apply for cool down
4) during the bedding, DO NOT hold the brake pedal down if you have to stop along the way - will imprint pad on rotor - BAD!!
Most importantly on the StopTech pad install (front & rear) - use white lithium grease (not spray) on the backing plates of the pads & around the edges of the backing plate where they come in contact with metal.
Also, as a BTW, I took off the Hawk HPS fronts the next day - performed like crap on the BBK - felt weaker than the OEM brakes with Hawk HPS. StopTech told me the Hawk HPS would be kinda weak, but had to see for myself - ha! I then installed the supplied Axxis Ultimate front pads & the grip was INSANE!! But the dust was as well - worse than the OEM pads!! After a week of that (and talking with Duane at StopTech) I just installed the Axxis Deluxe Plus front pads yesterday & they are GREAT for the street - bedded in the same way....minimal dust (like the Hawk HPS), solid street grip, strong pedal feel, inexpensive. They are not as "grippy" as the Ultimates, but perfect for the street!
BTW - forgot to add above.........since your BBK is still in order status, you can change your type of pad before they're shipped. And since you're in Nashville, you could stop by or call Doug at CrawfordZ & he'll tell you about the Hawk HPS pads I had on for a night. We installed both 4-wheel kits on his Z & mine & he could tell the difference as well between mine with the Hawk HPS & his with the Axxis Ultimate. I changed out the Ultimates to the Deluxe Plus after being back in Lexington for a week. Just to clear things up......... I loved the Hawk HPS on my OEM calipers, but was just a little dissappointed with them on the BBK fronts. May try them again one of these days after the Deluxe Plus pads wear out just to see if I was imagining it - ha! But with the Deluxe Plus' being about 1/2 the price of the Hawk HPS, might not try again as well....
