New alignment feels great!
I just got my car re-aligned this afternoon after installing the SPC rear camber kit. I was going to install the cam bolts too, but realized that OEM rear toe cam bolts still had plenty of range left for adjustment. Well, as it turned out, I probably didn't need the camber rods either since my spring only dropped the car about 3/4"
I had Les Schwab do the alignment to my personal specs (which still fall within Nissan spec range), and have inadvertently found the cure for the slow turn-in exhibited by those going with the 9.5” +22 front, 10.5” +22 rears, and Toyo T1-s. I’m excited as hell that I got the quick turn-in that was originally there with the 17” OEM setup.
What puzzles me is that I expected a slower turn-in because I went from negative toe to positive toe, so I don't know what to say about all that. Well, I’m happy as hell about this, because I had always blamed the toyo’s for having a more flexible sidewall than the bridgetones (which it does). Man, what a difference!
In any case, here are the numbers...
Front Toe:
Before: -0.02 in. (L) and –0.04 in. (R)
After: 0.03 in (L) and 0.03 in. (R)
Front Camber:
-1.3 deg (L) and –1.1 deg (R)
Rear Toe:
Before: 0.30 in. (L) and 0.22 in. (R)
After: 0.06 in (L) and 0.05 in. (R)
Rear Camber:
Before: -2.0 deg (L) and –1.9 deg (R)
After: -2.0 deg (L) and –2.0 deg (R)
Front and rear caster isn’t adjustable for me, but it fell within the spec range.
FWIW, I’ve got the hotchkis sway bars and springs. Lowering the car ¾” must have caused my front to toe-out slightly, and my rear to toe-in slightly because I have the alignment sheet from my first re-alignment.
