Default Better Brake Pads or Upgrade Brakes?

Ok I have about 900miles on the Z but Im finding the brakes are mediocre. I never had a car with ABS but they dont feel as strong as my old car's. Is it Nissan Pads or the whole braking system? Would upgrading the whole system really make a big improvement?

If you are just looking for an improvement in feel, try some good pads first. I'd recommend the Axxis Ultimate:

Axxis Ultimate street performance pads for the front of the 2004 Nissan 350Z except Track Model.

$69.95 - Item No. 63-223-0653

They will give you more 'bite' than the stock pads, and they'll take more heat. In terms of performance, a full big brake kit is not needed for the street. If you plan to do track driving, then you'll eventually need to start thinking about a full kit.

Do a search...there are about 2.3 million brake topics on this forum.

Mediocre ?

What are you comparing them with ?

Are you still running on the original pads ? My ABS almost never comes ON...

Like J Ritt said, plenty of options are availlable here.

Don't know what you were driving before -- but if it did not have ABS, it was probably pretty old. Back then cars were generally lighter as well. So if say you moved from a 1989 Honda CRX to the Z -- I would say that a lot of the brake performance issue you feel is just due to the weight of the vehicle.

Just a thought.
