Thumbs up Review of KGmm Coilovers

The KGmm coilovers were installed last weekend at my friends house. All work was done by myself. I was able to install the front suspension in about 3 hours with all the problems I was encountering. Most of the problems were caused by the anti-roll bar and the alignment strut tower bar. Rear coilovers was accomplished within an hour. No problems with rear install.

Stock ride height is lowered 1" in front and almost 2" in the rear for an almost no gap in the wheelwells. Now keep in mind that I am rolling 20" rims so the gap may vary with size of rims. Now this will not be a problem since the KGmm Coilovers comes with a fully threaded struts/shocks in the front and rear. You can lower the vehicle up to 4" all around and raise it up to stock height.

The actual suspension is meant for the track...I repeat for the track. I have not yet broken in the suspension to see the other characteristics of a soft strut set-up but in its default set-up the ride is very harsh. I have no problems with it because I have driven track cars on the street in the past. but I do see other non-track individuals complain about the lack of comfort from the ride. I have also encountered a squeaking from the suspension when I travel in reverse. I beleive I can remedy this before I bring in the car for an alignment. I will give you an update as I traverse the compression/rebound setting of the suspension; 15-way fully adjustable front/rear.

Overall, I believe that these coilovers are exceptional for what it offers. I am a big proponent of realiable track suspension for daily driver use. I beleive as time progresses and little kinks worked out I will never have to look for another brand name again.

I purchased this suspension from Gruppe-S, who is located in California and was very quick to order and ship out the equipment. I puchased the items on Tuesday and received it on Saturday. Pricing for the suspension was pretty good also considering the retail is a little over $1900.

Have fun and drift safely.

What are the spring rates? Are these damper length adjustable meaning you get full suspension travel regardless of height?

Sorry for the late reply.

Mchapman,

I will provide photos as soon as I have a weekend to take photos.

ZeroGen,

Spring rates are provided by Gruppe-S. Thanks Tom.
Yes the damper length is fully adjustable. So you do get full suspension travel regardless of height. This is full track suspension.

The front of these coilovers has a stiffer springrate then the rear. Wouldn't this promote understeer? I always thought that on your cars you want stiffer spring in the rear then the front, or atleast that is what I was told by everyone.

Yes it does but not as much as you think. It is relatively neutral but when you go into a corner with the intent to drift you will see how responsive the car is because of these spring rates. Also you have to realize the rear sets actually have two springs, one for the coilover and the helper spring attached to the lower suspension arm itself. If you only get suspension without the helper spring you are changing the dynamics of the overall suspension and how it was designed. With the helper spring, you can adjust your suspension slightly and get dynamic results.

Default Nice Review!

Your rear spring is progressive or linear?

My buddy club coilover has progressive and I was wondering if I can put linear spring on it..
