Default Satisfied Ceramics or Hawk HPS?

This should be in another section, but I needed a high-flow area so I can make a decision tonight.

Is the extra cost for the Hawks justified? Satisfied Pro Ceramics from TireRack are about $120CDN shipped

http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/brake...ads&perfCode=P

vs. Hawk HPS from Performance Nissan costing about $250CDN shipped.

http://performancenissanparts.com/ca...oducts_id=3782

Thanks...

I can only speak to the Hawk's and I love them. Little squeak from time to time but more than worth it for the utter lack of dust. I've heard good things about the satisfied ceramics. You can get the hawks from tirerack also for $150CDN.

Default Hawk HPS

I found the HPS pads REAL cheap here: www.splparts.com
$60 - fronts, $56 - rear, $8 - shipping = $124 total !
(I also picked up a JWT Popcharger for $109 - cheapest I've seen yet). I haven't had time to put them in yet, but have heard nothing but positive remarks on the Hawks.

I've got the Brembos so I'm looking at $250CDN for the complete set. Performance seems to have very competitive pricing and I've had good service... so I'd stick with them.

I hear both Ceramic and Hawks are dust free... what makes the Hawks so much better? Better stopping power? Better heat resistance? Longevity?

I say, satisfied ceremics. Between Satisifed Ceremic & Hawk HPS, to be honest, they are about the same.

I am saying this from experience.

If I were you, spend little more money and get Project Mu Pads. Either B-Force for NS.

Definitely worth extra money.

Thx for the info everyone...

SSK...

Just to be clear, you're referring to the Satisfied Pro Ceramic and not the Satisfied GranSport6 Composite, right?

Project Mu NS are a little more than the HPS. Between the ceramic and the Mus, you'd still go with the Mus? What do I get for the extra $150CDN?

Yes, I was referring to Satisfied Pro Ceramic. & Yes, I would definitely go with Project MU NS rather than Hawk HPS or Satisfied Pro.

I currently have B-Force but I heard NS are pretty good also.

Here is a link I gave brife discription of my experiences with the pads.

Please read

https://my350z.com/forum/brakes-and-suspension/117664-update-on-project-mu-brake-pads.html

==========================================================
Here is the summary. I also posted more updates so please read each post.

Here are summary of some pads I used before.

Stock (no brainer)
Dust: sucks, sucks, sucks
Noise: None/ very very little
Performance: Good performance but very rough braking
Summary: I will never use stock pads again

Satisfied Ceremic:
Dust: Very Very Low
Noise: Little squeek when cold but it goes away after it warms up.
Performance: Loose little brake performace compare to stock pads & doesn't bite as hard as stock pads but very very smooth braking.
Summary: Over all its a great pads and I would definitlely choose this pad over stock pads. Once again very smooth braking.

Hawk HPS:
Dust: Very Very Low
Noise: Almost NONE/started squeek a little (few times a month) as pads wore down. (even though others have experiance/complaint about squeeks, I did not have any issues with squeeks . I must have been lucky)
Performance: Bites little less than stock but little more than Satisfied Ceremic. Braking gets little rough as pads wear down.
Summary: Once again over all its a great pad. I would seriously debate which pads I would choose if it was between Hawk HPS and Satisfied Ceremic

Project MU B-Force:
Dust: Very very Low so far (will post an update in about a week)
Noise: None so far (will post an update in about few weeks unless it starts to squeek)
Performance: Great performance. Definitely bites better than stock, Hawk HPS, or Satisfied Ceremics. Braking is little (I mean little) rougher than satisfied but smoother than stock. Its similar to Hawk HPS with better performance
Summary: Its a great pad with great performance. Its has combination of good characteristic from 3 pads I mentioned above so far .

I will post an update.

(NOTE: The summary of the brake pads are my own PERSONAL experiances and opinions. Experiances and opinions may vary from person to person. I am not trying to promote any one particular product nor putting any product down. If you have different experiances or opinions you are more than welcome post.)

ahhh... found your great thread ssk. From everything I've read, I think I'll give the NS or Ceramics a shot. Actually NS look to be a bit cheaper than Hawks.

How was the installation? Some people had real problems with Hawks on Brembo calipers.

hey ssk, can you also rate the longevity life of each of the pads. Did you use HPS or HPS+ ?

I originally got Satisfied Pro Ceremic on my Silver 350Z which I use to own(Read my sig). I used them for about 7k mi and took it out. I still had about 80% left so I really don't know how long the pads will last. The reason I took it out was because I wanted to get a brake pads with better performce so I switced to Hawk HPS. Hawks weren't much better and I was in a process of suing Nissan so I did not change the pads again. After I won the case, I turned in my Silver Coupe and got me a New Roadster.

On my new Roadster, I changed my pads from stock to Hawks HPS again at 3k mi and it lasted until last Apirl(3 months ago)at 28k mi. So I'll say Hawk HPS last about 25K, if not more.

I usually drive 25K-30K miles per year.

The funny thing was that my front pads had 50% left but the rears were almost gone.

Thats when I decide to try Project Mu B-Force Pads and I am glad I did.

Installation was pretty easy but I would recomend turning the rotors. I originally changed the pads first but end up going to my mechanic and turning the rotors.

I would get it right the first time
