Default Hawk HPS - Anti-squeak grease or no?

Simple question... I have the pads ready to be installed, and bixby mentioned that I should use some anti-squeal grease. Then again, I *know* others have said not to use it, but I don't know why. Please chime in.

I have hawk HPS. I have squeaks. No amount of bedding in the brakes seem to permanently remove the seqeaks. I thought about trying the anti-squeak grease but was told by my auto-tech not to use the grease because it can reduce your brakes effectiveness. I'll take the squeak and sure brakes over silence and uncertainty.

I still squeak.

Learn to live with it. Only after an hour of driving or so, they diminish. Good pads though.

I have the Hawk HPS pads also. Haven't added any of the grease, so far I don't have any squeaks.

It is recommended to have your rotors resurfaced or turned when changing brake pads. This will stop squeaking.

I went through the whole ordeal with using grease previously when I changed my pads the first time. It didn't help much. The second time, I used grease but there was still squeaking. I went to the dealer and they recommended resurfacing the rotors. As soon as this was done, the squeal went away.

Considering the low mileage on my rotors, I don't think resurfacing is warranted.

It usually isn't. I had to pay 120.00 for the fronts.

My philosophy on this subject is it can't hurt. You might as well put some anti-squeak product on as there is no way it will make them squeak more.

I used the anti-squeak spray. No noise at all now.

I bedded the brakes well and also just used a little general hi-temp grease between the pad and the metal shim, no squeeks, no runs, no errors.
