I would like to start tracking my Z soon, and was wondering if anyone could offer some recomendations for pads and rotors for the Track brakes? Maybe a lighter rotor since the stock ones are heavy as hell.

The best way to go would be the 2 piece stop tech aero rotors... They are expensive at first, but when you go to change rotors again you pay alot less since you only replace the outer friction ring. They are a little lighter then the stock...

As for your pads, it really depends on how much track experience you have.

HP+ pads are a good option for less-experienced drivers at the track, Cobalt GTS and Carbotech Panther Plus are better options if you're going to swap out your pads.
The Stoptech rotors are 2lbs lighter in the front and 2.5lbs lighter in the rear.
There are lots of us on here who have "customized" calipers.

I had the "customized" caliper on my old Z, but thankfully my new one has't been abused too much yet.
I was under the impressin that the rotors were much lighter than that. Are there any lighter ones?

John, what would you recommend as a track only pad that is rotor freindly. And on the track I do push my car to the best of my ability, which I would like to think of as fast.
I was thinking maybe Performance Friction 01 front and back, but I didn't know if that might be to much.

I've had good results with Carbotech XP-10 front & their Panther + in the rear. (OK, I run Stoptech 13.1" Front kit).
Am I the only one with Stoptech special order rotors with purple hats?![EEK!](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif)
BTW, my aluminum lug nuts once upon a time were black anodized!

How much and where can you purchase just the outer friction ring on the stoptech? I was about to purchase some cheap rotors, but if the friction ring is considerably cheaper, I'll get the stoptechs instead.

We also offer two-piece rotors for you:
http://www.racingbrake.com/NISSAN_s/521.htm
And we reccommend using Hawk pads with our rotors. The rotors are center-mount design to give you better air flow, and convergent vanes to keep the rotor at a cooler temperature.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe the Racing Brake rotors are actually floating.
Here's the difference between the two:
http://8.7.96.35/tech_info/faq_rotorsystems.shtml
With a fixed hat rotor, you aren't gaining any of the benefits of the floating rotor system, other than a bit of a weight savings. You still have issues like coning and tapered pad wear. Here's the press release for our AeroRotors for the Z:
http://www.stoptech.com/press_releas...drkrelease.htm
Our replacement iron for these rotors is very reasonable. So, after you go through your first set on the track, the next set will be $130 for each front (including new attachment hardware), and $108 for each rear (with hardware).
