Default zeal noises?

does anybody else have a set of the function v6's with any mileage on them? i'm at about 8000 and both of my rear shocks have been making a squishing sound and sometimes a creaking sound for a while. one of them stopped rebounding properly and i had endless overhaul it for $150 and the car drives right again but the squishy sound is still there on bumpy roads

As with any car modification...

If you want quiet, stay stock.

this is a little off topic, but can you tell me where the dampening adjuster for the rear shock is? is it on the top, or on the bottom?

Thanks

At low speeds, like in the driveway, I can hear some noise from the coilovers. At higher speeds, no complaints.

dunno why it froze.. it almost seems like the right rear is starting to do the same thing but i need to take them both off the car and compare sometime to know.. it could be something else

endless told me i abused them and installed them improperly (can this even be done?) so they wouldn't cover it and charged me about $150 for one.. the city roads here are pretty rough but you would think for sure something of this quality and cost could cope with most things (excluding anything that would bend a wheel obviously which didn't happen here)

That sucks that it wasn't warrantied. I went through that nonsense with JIC. I understand that it's hard for them to know how they were installed and cared for, but how can you improperly install a shock? It's just 3 bolts.. You should have pushed back some.
I got my most recent setup installed where I bought them for this very reason. I've had some issues that they promptly fixed for me (they couldn't blame the install).

Well, I was considering Zeal, but I may have to reconsider as service is important to me.

once i agreed to pay up the service was great, it was a bit hard to get ahold of them because you have to email them and they'll call you back.. for some reason you cant actually call the tech department.. but once they received the damper they had it repaired and out the door within 5 days

The performance on the track is really worth the price to me even with this experience, plus on the lowest setting they ride a bit easier then my friends jic and tein (not sayin those aren't great dampers though, just on city streets)

I found the Zeal get out of jail free card when it come's to denying warranty claims.

"Q: Is there a warranty for ZEAL Coilover Suspension Systems?
We offer a 1-year limited warranty against manufacturer's defect for ZEAL systems (installed by an authorized dealer). A warranty registration card is included with each ZEAL coilover package. Please fill this out and mail this to Endless USA with a copy of your invoice. An invoice copy MUST be included. Upon receipt, a limited warranty certificate with a ZEAL stamp of approval will be sent to you. If your package does not contain this, there may be something wrong."

You have to have the coilovers installed by a authorized dealer, self install means no warranty. It's one thing to enforce this aspect of a warranty claim, but to invent a story like you installed them wrong and abused them, just who do they think is the type of person that would pay their price and not be informed otherwise. How does that guy on 20/20 say it,........give me a break!

Gee, who's on their list of authorized installers? IMO, a authorized dealer would also want a unrealistic install fee simply because of what the Zeal's retail for.

While I am not happy about 2 of my konis requiring serviceing within the first months, I am quite happy about the responsiveness of truechoice and their willingness to help without hassle. I even told them I first noticed the leaking at the race track. They answer phone calls and have always turned my shocks around in about a week.

While the fine print in the Zeal warranty is understandable from the manufacturer's side, in the case of things like a frozen piston, leaking seal, etc., I don't think a "professional" install would make a difference.

Thanks for posting your experience.

actually if you look at their site, there is a recommended install price for their units. Not every authorized dealer is an installer though - again it spells this out on their site I believe. Every other dealer I kow of charges the same thing for install that we do (around $200-$225)

When you buy from an authorized dealer, the dealer is who takes care of you in terms of any warranty claims with Zeal. FWIW, I have not had a single claim denied out of the couple we sent in

the couple you sent in? is this a normal thing for these coilovers? i was thinking about purchasing these, but this kind of worries me. i am currently running the HKS LS+ coilovers, and have not had any problems. no noises, no leaking, no nothing after 25K+ miles. this is what i would expect from an expensive set of coilovers.

I have 31k miles on my Zeals, they make that squishing noise. When you adjust the dampening on them from say 1-4 it goes away a little but will come back later. My favorite combos are 3front 2rear on street, drag race 3 front 1 rear. Highway with turns 4front 4rear and all out race twisties 6-6 or maybe 6-5. San Francisco requires 1-1 tooo many squeaks.
