Default New GT Spec 4 Point Ladder Brace finally released

Been waiting over a year for this to come out and when I was at GT Spec today, picked em up. So far we've been able to confirm fitment with stock exhaust as well as with Injen true dual. Going to install on my car (Fujitsubo Ti exhaust with Ultimate Racing y pipe) tomorrow. Given the clearanc with a stock exhaust (see pics), I don't forsee problems with mine, nor with the majority of exhausts out there.

I did not weigh it yet, but can do that tomorrow.....it is pretty light though as its aluminum. It is also not tremendously thick (about 1/2 inch), so won't affect ground clearance except on the most drastically lowered cars (and if you are that low, handling and balance are likely not primary goals for you in the first place).

Anyway, on to the pic:

I cannot wait to get this on my car tomorrow!!!

Hmmm, I wonder if this will really help handling. This piece looks nice though!

Yeah, I wonder the same too. How much chasis flex does this piece really reduce? I'm assuming more than the individual bars.

Bump.

Any numbers comparing the weight between the OEM and GT Spec unit?

there is no OEM unit.....this is an add on brace, it does not replace anything

the brace weighs in the ~5 lb range - it is very lightweight

I though it replaced the 'W' steel brace towards the back.

Looking at the pictures I can see what you mean, it's further up than I thought.

Any driving impressions yet?

And what's the scoop with the 3rd brace which doesn't work with OEM exhausts - have they re-engineered it yet?

I have not had a chance to fit it yet - maybe today

They do not plan to redo the lateral brace

Do you have to drill holes to install this? It does not appear to use existing points. How effective do you think it will be? It does'nt seem triangulated or boxed off.

?? It is both triangulated and boxed.....two triangles per side, box in the center.

it uses existing points - all required hardware is included as well

Sorry, that did'nt come out right. One end looks pretty open. I can see where it's triangulated, I was talking more about the perimiter. If the box section where larger, (more squaring off the perimiter) I think the brace would be more effective.

there would not be a way to do that, given the design of the exhaust

This part is brand new. No fitment issues as of yet, other than that it fits the 350Z and NOT the G35c.

www.partshippers.com also carries the entire GT-Spec line. Looks like prices are about the same as Z1 (depending on shipping). However, for the new mid-chassis reinforcement, it's like $20 less...

actually there are fitment issues, but only on some cars. Seems that some Z's have the prethreaded holes from the factory for the rear mounting, and some do not.
