Z guys: Tell me how you liked your OEM Z suspension
Hey guys,
So I own a G35 coupe and I am thinking of putting in a new suspension system for drop, comfort, and some better performance handling.....
I was thinking of getting TEIN CS but I was told the ride would be too mushy/air bouncey...
Performance Nissan is selling a 2006 OEM 350Z suspension system and they tell me I will get the OEM Z comfortable ride but upgraded performance over my stock G35 coupe suspension system....and the Z suspension will lower me about 1inch all around without future sagging....
So the swap to 2006 OEM Z suspension seems good to me, now what can you Z owners tell me about your OEM suspension
did you like it?, what was not good about it?
(Remember I own a g35 coupe on stock Infiniti suspension so my stock ride will be different than the ride on a stock Z system)
BTW: did any of you switch to TEIN Basics? how did the OEM compare to Basics? which is more comfortable?
Thanks for your help and helping a G35 guy out!!

If you get Z springs you should get new struts to account for the change in spring rates. I like the stock Z springs (bit too tall, but it helps keeps things under control on streets and I don't track anyway). The stock dampers suck, however. It's bouncy - not enough rebound damping. I have an 05 BTW.
I've ridden in a Tein lowered G coupe and my stock suspension is "harsher" than the modified Coupe's.

the stock struts are very bouncy. i am dropped on Tanabe GF210 springs, and anytime i go around a corner pushing the limit, the car bounces fairly baddly, but it grips and stays there. i would go with a coilover set, honestly. if you're going to do it, do it right the first time. But, if you have your heart set on the stock z suspension, the ride will be comfortable and handle nicely.

Who did you speak to about the CS? No owner review that I've ever read from any Z or G owner has ever described them as soft and mushy or bouncy. Based on what you say you want, they should deliver exactly what your looking for. That being said, I know for my need's that the CS is too soft based on specs and a long conversation with Tein. So what can you do?
Get a ride and drive with a Z or G owner that has the CS setup and judge for yourself. I can also see the HKS RS setup as meeting your needs. In addition oem 2003 Z springs with Tokico D-specs would be another good choice. Tein Basic review's have all been very positive, though a few have mentioned bounce, that description is rare.
Also, take note of the following oem specs.
Once again here the list of all known north american 350Z and G35 oem spring rates
350Z 2003/2004
314/342
350Z 2004.5+ & 350Z roadsteer
314/427
G35 Coupe all production delivered on oem 17" and 18" wheels regardless of build year (known as the "sport tuned" suspension)
314/342
G35 Coupe if delivered on oem 19" wheels (known as the sport suspension)
314/427
G35 sedan with sport suspension
314/342
G35 sedan non sport
283/308
^ i have the 19'' sport suspension package and it appears that the OEM spring rates of my G suspsenion and 2006 Z suspension are the same.....if that is true, then i may not be getting the z suspension and just get aftermarket
....so the HKS RS suspension compares to TEIN CS?...is HKS adjustable?

I think the drop will be 1/2" and not 1" as you have mentioned.
I am going with '05 Z springs and Dspecs as well as stillen sways on my G coupe. i won't have them on until the spring so I wouldn't be able to give you any feedback until then.
