reds are street pads with track compounds aka better stopping power and stronger lasting
yellows need to get warmed up b4 it works
and greens... are for beaters

those rotors are gonna be $$$ i strongly urge u to get a second opinion, and if u do replace the rotors do not go with oem. performance nissan should have a nice selection of aftermarket rotors on their website, check it out.
most likely new pads and rotors will cost u over 500. pads will be about 100, rotors i have no idea but can easily see them being over 100 each. best of luck.

You need to NOT buy them again

+1 on the stoptech stage 2 kit. I got the same story when I had my brakes done at 22k miles, but I had only bought the hawk pads b/c I didn't think my rotors where going to need to be replaced so I had to just buy stock replacements. the stoptech kit will give you new hawk hps pads, slotted rotors, steel lines and motul fluids I believe. talk to jason (he's a member on here) from performance nissan, he'll hook you up.

A BBK kit such as the stoptechs would be overkill if you don't go to the track. There are better than stock brake pads out there, but since you were surprised with the rotor with stock pads, I'd be weary of an aggressive pad which should increase rotor wear.

Get the most powerful brake so you can both take more risks and avoid more risks
I should be a stoptech brake salesman

Have you seen this test http://www.zeckhausen.com/Testing_Brakes.htm
Those "terrible" stock pads and rotors do quite well. Again, for daily driving and the street, a bbk kit is a waste.

Stopping power with the stoptech bbk is noticable and a couple feet could mean the ditch or a "phew"

There may be better brake feel with a bbk, but the argument about stopping power is mute.
I really don't know of an instance where one would face brake fade on the street. I've done numerous canyons runs on the non-brembo pads and rotors as well as the OEM brembos and even then I did not experience fade.

yes BUT say you get 3 feet less from using BBK compared with regular brake ..
then say you got into an accident and if you had BBK you would of avoided it
now you lost 5000 dollars on a Z instead of spent 2000 dollars on the brake kit and avoided the accident over all

If you were to try similar braking techniques in a turn, it would be game over even with VDC, BBK or not.
