Good luck trying to get Ohlins. They are tuned by IMPUL, and the IMPUL/OHLINS coilover costs a GRIP. Crux does not compare to the quality of the ohlins unit. But i am dissappointed to see that the ohlins unit does not have an external reservoir... i would think with the price that's the least they would do...

Plus Tc Kline racing has some very nice custom valved Koni's that have independent compression and rebound adjustabilty for a very decent price per shock.

So when I call Ohlins USA again am I going to hear the same thing again as above, or are they going to say yes WE do make them now?

Although I can't speak for Ohlins, Penske works with independent chassis tuners to develop a lot of their applications. Its just a matter of bandwidth. They (Penske) don't have enough staff to do the necessary development work for all the possbile platforms. Most of Penske's staff is devoted to professional racing support.
I was involved with EMI Racing in the development of a Penske 8100/8760 setup for last two generations of Vipers. What EMI Racing developed is exactly what Penske sells (and pretty much anyone else who sells Penske's for Vipers).
Where? I would be very interested in seeing what was developed because I've started down that path for my own car. It would be nice to purchase instead of doing buttloads of development.
True. I've already dyno'd some Tien FlexRS shocks and I'm amazed at the amount of compression damping they run.

John, IIRC I became aware of the Penske's because awhile back (thinking early 04) I found a post on either SCCA forums or another 350Z board where this person had sold his Penske shocks in favor of another set that was more adjustable. It did not sound like he anything other then single person vs part of some organized shop. Moton's are avaliable for the car, but I'm sure your already aware of that.

Reviving this Ohlins thread instead of starting a new one...
My next upgrade will be suspension and the more I think about it, the more I change my mind. I was pretty set on Ohlins coilovers, but I don't see many people using them on track, and they are not made by Ohlins, but instead built under their license in Japan vs Sweden. The other downside is that they are only one-way adjustable. I talked a local shop and they are an authorized Ohlins service center and carry all the parts. They charge $45 per shock for a revalve, but still a pain to have to remove them.
This leads to other coilovers or going for a separate spring/shock combo. The 2-way koni's seem like a good shock as well. I know Penske has shocks avaialbale as well but they are all custom setups, and as far as I know, those shock are not built specifically for thre 350z by Penske.
I would like to get the Ohlins, but if I can get a better setup with a separate spring/shock combo I'll go that route.
My car will eventually turn into a 70% track car. I don't really care what the components look like either as long as they perform.
What I'm mostly interested in is, if my car will spend a good amount of time at the track(roadcourse), is Ohlins a good choice? I know the products that come from Sweden are excellent, but I have no experience with the ones built in Japan. Some say they are too stiff, others say the components are from sweden but built in Japan, some people here were supposed to give reviews but no one has, etc.
So does anyone know the "real deal" with the Ohlins DFV coilovers, or have all the discussions on the board been based only on specs?

I have been looking for more info about the DFV, how they ride, and perform. Since day one I bought my Z, but recently I came across a killer deal on a brand new set, so I went ahead and purchased it. I will probably shock dyno it and get some numbers for this board. But the built quality is just worth the money over other off the shelf coilovers i have seen.
