Here is a quote from StopTech that might help answer a few questions.
It would seem that anybody that bought a StopTeck BBK for an 05+ G35 or a 06+ 350Z before now, got the older brakes that were not proportioned correctly for these models.
I don't think that would be terrible. I don't see any other BBK manufacturers making separate calipers for the newer Gs and Zs... But, if you have the choice, and you're going to get a StopTech BBK, you might as well get exactly what they designed for your car.

I don't think that would be terrible. I don't see any other BBK manufacturers making separate calipers for the newer Gs and Zs... But, if you have the choice, and you're going to get a StopTech BBK, you might as well get exactly what they designed for your car.

I was a bit worried about this since I have an 06 with the 03-05 kit but I called both Brembo and AP brakes and they both use the same kit for 03-06. They have not made any updates for the 06+ models.
It doesn't mean that the updated kit from stoptech won't be better balanced, but at least I know it'll work as it should and should perform fine on track, which is why I got them.
As far as I know the 06+ has bigger rotors up front only(12.6") and the rear rotor and calipers are the same as previous years. So if you're doing all four wheels, why would you need different piston diameters if the weight distribution of the car has not changed when compared to pre 06 models?
It doesn't mean that the updated kit from stoptech won't be better balanced, but at least I know it'll work as it should and should perform fine on track, which is why I got them.

Basically, if you have a pre 06' 350Z 4 wheel BBK on an 06+ Z, why does it have to be different if you're changing all four sides? I understand if you do only the fronts and you want to keep the balance, but if you do all four, shouldn't it work properly balanced?

The 06+ Z's and 05+ G35's have larger rotors, and larger piston sizes creating more brake torque all around. Our design intention is to match stock brake torque. So if OE goes larger, it's best that we go larger as well.
On a 2 wheel kit, going with the new kit is absolutely essential. On a 4 wheel kit, the newer kit should be used whenever possible.

I have a 2006 Z and just installed Stoptech 4 piston calipers and 14" drilled rotors on all four wheels. I have one word to describe the brakes...Fabulous....
The brakes are ultra powerful and smooth as silk.....
I waited for the kit engineered for the 2006+ models and I'm glad I did. The entire kit "bolted on" and the only fab work was cutting away the original dust shields on both the front and rear brakes. No ABS issues, no warning lights, no noise.....The quality of the calipers, brackets, rotors, hats, lines is second to none. You get what you pay for.

did you shave off the original caliper moutning bracket so that it matched the fronts?

The st45 is a 4 piston caliper used on the rear only. Since the ST45 is a different caliper than the ST40 and uses different pads that the ST40, I suspect you could tell the difference by looking at it.
