Default Caliper Piston Boot Melting

Just got back from my second track day at Road Atlanta.
For this event I put Hawk HP Plus pads on all four corners.
Wow, they were much better than stock in stopping power and fade resistance. Today I went to put the street pads back on and found that the caliper piston boots were charred and melted on the fronts. Is this common? Are there high temp
boots available?

zeckhausen.com has a set of Titanium Backing Plates to keep the heat away from the callipers.

Were these bembos or not, stock non-brembo calipers have to work harder than brembo equipped models.

Thanks jlvvega for the titanium backing plate link.
Davidf, the brakes are stock. The wife just asked me "if
I were to do the track thing again, what group would I be in. I'm hoping that means she is signing me up for another
track day as a surprise. Fingers crossed!

I think these Ti plates are only for the Brembos according to the StopTech website

HP+ doesn't have that great of heat capacity for the front...should work well in the rear though. Assuming this is an '03-05 non-track we're talking about, I'd step up to the Hawk Blue on the front:
Our part# and price
63-450-0653 Blue 9012 - CLUB RACE $137.95
We only have Ti plates for Track Model stock brakes and our ST-40 caliper.

I'd make sure you have some good fluid (Motul RBF600) in the car.

That said, dust boots melt at track temps, period...that means ANY rubber boot you put in there. The ones on our BBK's do the same thing with enough heat. It's nothing to worry about though. Just inspect them after each event and keep debris and dirt out of the system...should be fine. Just check for fluid seepage from the seals (fluid coming out along the sides the pistons). If you see this, then you should rebuild the caliper with new seals.

If you're tracking your car, it won't hurt to rebuild your calipers each year in the offseason. The temps your rotors see are 1200 deg. F+ at the track, which is hot enough to cook pretty much anything!
