Default Coilovers...need to balance car again?

I'm thinking about getting coilovers, but my friend who also owns a Z says that the Z is balanced from the factory (front/rear) and that by getting aftermarket coilovers, it will mess that up and need to be re-balanced. Is this true? If so, everytime you adjust the height of your car, you would need to re-tune your suspension (damper rates/adjust spring rate, etc) ?

well you could have your car corner balanced if your a track junky, and technically you might need an alignment after you drop or raise your car depending on how drastic the changes are. but you dont need to have them done.

You will definitely need an alignment, but if you don't track your car you probably don't need to corner weight the car. It won't make much of difference on the street.

Even in aggressive/spirited driving, will it feel like a different car? I really like the way the car feels from the factory...any thoughts?

I have the Tanabe PRO-SOC coilovers and I can tell you that my Z handles like it's on rails. Of all the guys in my club, I hammer my way through the turns and I brake later in the turns ( if at all) and feel confident in the way the car handles. Re-balance your suspension?? What is your friend talking about. My coilovers dropped the car ~ 1.5'' & I also got new shoes - 19" - so I got the SPC toebolts and radius arms for thr rear and Cusco sways and A-arms for the front. If you're going to do it, do it right!!! These additions allow me to maintain stock alignment specs and are a must do in my book. Don't worry just pick a set you like and if you cannot get back to factory specs then add the SPC components ( they are the ONLY correct way to restore camber). Good luck!!!
