Default EDFC trouble shooting issues

I had sent my EDFC back to Tein for warrenty work becauase it was acting weird. It was showing the error on the fronts and rear was ok. I swapped the leads and it showed the same thing. The problem was I would plug it in the first time and it would pop up as an error, upon subsiquent restarts it would power on and off. It was taking power off the stereo feed and it would not let the radio come on.

So only 2 logical conclusions: A) The main front cable is bad before it splits to L & R or B) the EDFC headunit itself was bad.

I did the 1st logical step, I continuity tested the front main cable and every thing was good, checked all the connection and it ok.

Before i sent in the head unit I double checked the wiring and it was correct. So I called Tein send it in. 2 weeks later I get a call and they said there was absolutely nothing wrong with the head unit . WTF!!!

So its been like a month, I'm out of country and it (not me)should be comming back any time now and its been on my mind alot. My question is what could be wrong? They are saying the cabeling but all the leads had continuity. I have done countless stereo and wiring jobs in cars so I know the wires fairly well to splice into. By chance I was retarded for 2 days of trouble shooting, where did any of you pull your POWER, Batt, and ACC from? The Ground is not a problem its grounded to the factory grounding point and a chassis test shows there's continuity.

Alot of times with the front EDFC motors, they get filled with water...

Did you check the motors and make sure they are not wet or anything? Ive seen some where we took them out and pulled back some rubber and water literally poured out...

Replacing the front motors and all was fixed...

All these were installed at once, there was no chance for the motor to have any damage. https://my350z.com/forum/pacific/183086-making-a-stiffie-2.html

It did not work from the first install of the head unit.

do you hear the servos moving at all?

tein should just swap the whole thing for you?

who did you buy it from? was it an authorized tein dealer?

I do not recall I have to go threw my e reciepts but it was a sponsor on the site. Thats how I was able to get warenty work. I spoke to the person I bought it from on the site and they told me to contact Tein.

Tein bench tested it and they said it was fine. They couldnt find a problem with the head unit. They said since there was nothing wrong found they sent it back. So I had to pay for shipping and so there it was nothing to show for it but shipping both ways.

It still has not shown up at my work, where I had it sent to. I hate to call them from here because its like 5 bucks a minute and 16 hours time diffrence.

So the power wasnt comming on long enough, from what I remeber, for the servo's to com on. It would flash on and off every second or so after the original start up and turn off. You would figure Tein would have a list of trouble indicators that would show if A and B happens then C is wrong. Or if A is happening but B is not then check D. Yeah nothing like that.

I'll check on the actual shop I bought it from.

EDIT: JSC Speed is where I bought them from.

JSC is a tein dealer it looks like so that is good...

Next time, have it sent to where you got it from and have them deal with the manufacturer... Thats what you paid them for!

who did the install?

JSC is the one that told me to deal with Tein, they said there wasn't any thing they could do.

It was verry simple and straight forward. followed all the motor mounting info to a "T" I even marked the servo shaft so I could tell exactly how many turns I had made easly. Nopinched or stretched wires or any thing of that nature.

Tein said that installing them my self was not a warrenty related factor.

I am thinking it the power wiring directions that came with them may be incorrect. It acts all weird when the power comes on after the second time. It just kinda flickers on and off and its not allowing my stereo to power up fully. So thats why I was thinking that there may have been incorrect directions included, they didnt realy strike me as if they were from Tein they looked like photo copies not a print out or a booklet.
