+1 on that

If we had the option to get a voucher for the price the dealer charges for
stock replacement wheels and RE040s at Tire Rack prices, we would all be running Volks with nice rubber. At least I would not have a stack of stockers taking up room in my garage. Plus, Nissan would have saved a bundle on replacement tires for feathering, its their loss.

Don't even get me started on the RE040 tires, I have nothing good to
say about them except that they are black and round.

Way back in the day, you could order your car out of a book of options instead of packages. I am hoping the internet and JIT manufacturing can bring that back so we can do things like order the best brakes but ditch the VDC.

You offer Brembo's and people complain, you deliver 108 foot stops and people complain.

YOU DON"T GET 108 foot stops by chosing the low cost bidder or even considering the cost on TIRES AND BRAKE PADS.
I understand what you mean. But you make it sound like Nissan would chose the best pad out there when it’s certainly not what is happening.

Any manufacturer will select/design parts that will achieve the desired performance targeted while keeping the costs as low as possible. Hence the dusty pads (which I don’t mind really.) Aren’t the Base calipers the ones from the Maxima?

It would be nice to be able to choose exactly what options we want in our cars. But I’m afraid it would get more expensive in the end (getting brakes only vs a packaged brakes + VDC). I was browsing for a Ford pick-up a few months ago. What a nightmare of options!!! And then, the exact truck can’t be found anywhere and you have to order it and wait for months. I got a Nissan Titan full equipped off the lot the same day instead…

This thread started out about EBC Rotors, not pads, but interesting discussion never-the-less!

Back to EBC Rotors and my last post # 12 in this thread - next installment:

I asked my dealer for a new set of rear EBC rotors since I believe that they machined the first ones after only 600 kms in error. Well they agreed to this and new ones went on yesterday. At the same time I asked them to check the noise that I found coming from the left front.

They checked the run-out on the new rears as well as the left front and found them all to be within 1 thou so the installation is fine BUT still I have the sound of a ten-speed bike! So I guess thats the way it is.

Only other thing I can do now is go to a brake specialist if I can find such a thing - and I'm not talking Midas! Maybe the noise will go away.. hopefully

ABS ring or sensor loose ? Did we check those ?

How do we check that?! the ten-speed bike sound is under accel/driving, but under braking its a swoosh that sometimes almost sounds like a rattle....
