"knocking" noise after spring install?

I have the same problem, it occurred after I installed my springs...although mine only happens in LOW speeds (1-3mph) when I’m turning the wheels, like when I’m making a u turn, or backing out of the garage.

Come to think of it...I've had a similar issue on the stock suspension during turning, the passenger corner would make a noise. The dealership fixed it, but they told me the engine mounts were loose (??). The sound came back after the Tein install, but everything was torqued down...
I don't know, I've tried taking off my strut bar and driving, retorquing everything. Maybe its the endlink someone was mentioning...I'll report back when I get a chance to check those.

It's probably your end links. I had the same problem, which I resolved with the Nismo Heim jointed end links. They were a pain though as the bolts that I received were apparantly the wrong size and I couldn't torque them. A visit to Tacoma Screw to get new bolts resolved that though.
If you jack up the car with the wheels off the ground try to move the end link around the bushing. I could "feel" a clunk as I moved mine on the drivers side but not on the passenger side.

I got the knock, or clunk when turning sometimes, usually when the road was uneven through the turn. I got it more often when one wheel went over a bump before the other, but it got to the point where either situation would cause the noise. It was on the drivers side and it drove me crazy until I installed the Nismo end links.
I have the S-tune suspension on my Z, with Nismo sways, and first thought I'd installed something wrong but when I checked everything it was all installed and torqued correctly.
I only discovered it was the end link because I grabbed it at one point while trying to push around the sway bar to see if it was somehow causing the noise and noticed the slight knock it made when it moved. That was on the driver side, but the passenger side didn't make the noise so I knew I found it.
I could have just bought new stock end links but I convinced myself it would just happen again so I sprung for the Nismo ones. I was very glad I did because the car seemed to handle even better after I installed them. That may be wishful thinking, but the noise hasn't come back and I'm really happy with the handling on both road and track.

Where could I find these Nismo end links? I have the knock I have Tein H. Techs with Eibach sways. This all happened shortly after the install. drove the z hard yesterday through the dragons tail and the noise has gotten worse on the front passengers side. Also is there anything else I should look at? Everything is tight and appears to be in order. Thanks!

#1 - You could be missing the rubber isolator on the bottom or top of the spring perch. I forgets where it is. Some people forget to put it back in when they install springs.
....and if everything is installed correctly.........
#2 - The knocking sound you are hearing could be from the spring itself. You may need to install a Noise Stopper which is a rubber sleeve that goes around the top part of the spring where it is most compressed. I believe Espelir and Tein makes universal ones.

The heim jointed end links cost alot, but chances are you won't have to replace them anytime soon. They are certainly much stronger than the stock ones.
The knock may or not be your end link. I'd crawl underneath and give it a twist to see if you feel the clunk, but it's an inexpensive thing to just replace if you go with a stock replacement.
Personally I think the stock end links are pretty weak since I only had ~16K on the car and only 12K with the S-tune suspension before mine started making noise...
A friend also had a knock and replaced his with stock ones. It eliminated the knock he was getting for over a year but he says he's getting it every once in awhile again. He wanted to get the Nismo ones but they've been back ordered for awhile. He's the one that told me about that SPL has some coming out soon.
Good luck resolving it. I know that noise was driving me crazy for awhile...

If you changed your shocks, check to make sure the nut is tight on top of the shaft. Mine was a little loose up front after I installed new springs and shocks and that was the fix. I could loosen the nut with my fingers. We did the swap in my garage, so it was my fault, but a simple fix.
You'll have to drop the rear shock to check it out, but it's easier to drop the rear shock than the front. No spring compressor is needed.

hmmm, found this pic online and realize that my Hotchkis did not come with the little BLACK things in the pic, Do i need these? Could that be the cause of my "knocking" noise?

I think that might be your problem though!

One last thing that it may be. If your shocks were taken off (which they were for a spring change) when you torque the bottom shock bolt the car's suspension must have a load on it. I just got out my oil changing ramps and lowered the car onto them so I would have room to do the last bit of torquing while the suspension was under load.
Just a thought if you have chased down everything else...

So....did this ever get resolved?
I'm doing a search on noises after a spring install and found this thread.
I just put on some H&R springs w/Tokico D's and my driver front is making a noise at low speeds. Kinda of a clunky noise. I'm not sure if it doesn't make noises at high speeds or not-too hard to tell.
I do recall that we forgot to insert that OEM rubber tubing on the spring at the top prior to install. We ended up pushing it up on the spring as far as we could-thought we did good, maybe not enough.
Also, we torqued down the suspension w/out any load (i.e., is was on jack stands), so maybe that's an issue.
If it's the end links, how could they be damaged from the install? Meaning, the noise was RIGHT after the install, so how could I have damged them within YARDS?
Thanks!
Larry

I have the same problem too. When I'm reversing out of my garage to lower elevation grounds, there is a knocking sound. Not that noticeble, but I'd like to get rid of it. Can someone post a picture of what the end link look like and where to find it underneath the car? I'm assuming it's near the springs or shocks area???

I'm having the same issue. I especially get it when turning at a ramp really fast, which puts a lot of pressure on one side. It seems like something is rubbing against something. It would knock everytime theres a small bump.
