Default Rear BBK = No EBrake?

Simple Question...what rear BBKs keep the ebrake and which ones don't?

Actually, from what I hear non of the wheel brakes actually function as the e-brake. Its actually a smaller brake altogether.. that's why the e-brake is so crappy.. If you do a search about "adjusting the e-brake" you might read where some people were talking about it.

^^^^true, any aftermarket rotors should retain an internal drum that works w/factory E-brake.

The Willwood kits are the ones you are thinking of, they have no type of parking brake, thtas what keeps the cost down.

The e-brake on the 350z is an extra brake shoe (not pad) touching the inside of the rear rotor (which functions similar to a drum).

All rear BBK that I have looked at, that are intended for the 350z have a rear rotor shape so that the shoe fits inside and retains the e-brake function.

The BBK does not have to have any e-brake, it is just the shape of the rotor that needs to be compatible with the e-brake that comes with the car and stays with the car even after a BBK upgrade.

Anyone correct me if I am wrong.
So I am pretty sure whether stoptech or rotora or wilwood... if made for the 350z rear, the e-brake will be fine. (but it will take a few days until the e-brakes grabs well again on a new rotor.)

That is correct. No BBK that I know of for the Z requires the removal of the stock e-brake mechanism; the new rotors just fot the existing one. Our cars don't have the type of e-brake you see on the Viper or Ford GT and the like, that have a small, secondary caliper that grabs the main surface of the rotor (bad idea, IMO, especially if you engage the e-brake on a hot rotor just after spirited driving... can anyone say warped rotor?).

Some of the kits offered by vendors using Wilwood calipers and thier own hats and brackets require the removal of the rear e-brake mechanism. Our rear kits and some of the others out there do maintain rear e-brake function by machining a hat that fits over the factory e-brake. There is higher cost involved due to added machine time, wasted metal and extra engineering with a kit that retains the e-brake.

Also, the hat for the rear rotor should be made of iron, not aluminum, for the rear ebrake to work from what ive found, since you wouldnt want the ebrake shoe rubbing on aluminum

The newest Wilwood FACTORY kits do retain the stock e-brake via internal iron drum assembly: http://www.wilwood.org/fl184.pdf

And I hope you find we have them priced to your liking:

If you only use it for a parking brake, AL will be fine; prob just don't want to go doing any stunt manuvers withthe ebrake...
