Yeah get new pads and get the rotors turned while you are at it. Think about going with some hawk pads. They are nice and don't leave as much dust as OEM pads.

There is little advantage in replacing brake pads early: it just makes your wallet lighter.

When the pads need to be replaced, you will hear it - an unmistakable grinding sound.

Then replace the pads on that axle. As ZCARBANDIT mentioned, turn the rotors.

Casanova, you shouldn't have to buy your rotors or pads as a set of 4 as they will wear differently front to back. I did front pads & rotors at 25kms, and back at 43kms, but that's just my Z & my driving. Make sure your rotors are machined/skimmed as well, if the rotors are still in good condition.

Seriously if your brakes have seen better days get it sorted asap!! Please.

One thing to remember is not voiding your warranty if that is a concern for you as your Z is an 05. Consult your owners handbook.

Geez, you guys really have cash to waste ?!?

Do NOT turn your rotors when you change your pads unless they need it (Bad run out, warped - this is rare). Put new pads when the brake warning spring squeal (this is not temperature sensitive) and just bed them in.

Turning rotors... pfawh !

I ALWAYS turn my rotors when I change pads.

Why would you put a smooth pad on an unsmooth surface. Thats just less surface area touching... Plus old pad material is bedding into the rotor....

Because the new pad will wear within a few days and it's "smooth" surface will change to conform to the ridges on the rotors. If it's surface area you want, you'll get more this way. It's not very smooth to start with in any cases.

Old pad material will rub off pretty fast.

Turning rotors = removing material. On a rotors that only allows for 2mm of wear before needing to be replaced, it's a waste of money. I admit that if my business was selling rotors and charging for turning them, I'd recommand turning them each time too...

We just need to be careful with the new pads and remember the brakes won't be at 100% right away.
