Hotchkis Springs, Which side is top

Hotchkis Springs, Which side is top
I feel stupid for asking this ?. For I have changed springs out before on other cars. I would look at my car to tell but I wont have it back for another week and I couldn't wait.
On the front spring of the Hotchkis I can't tell which is top or bottum. On one end of the coil the coil starts to get closer to the other all most touching each other. Would this be the top or the bottum? I like to say this is the top due to the writing would be normal instead of upside down which might not mean nothing at all. So why were at it, in the rear the spring with the shave end to make it sit level, what end would this be? Thanks for the info.
