Default Do i need new bakr lines when swapping brakes?

Hey guys im swapping over from my touring stock brakes to OEM brembo. i have the four calipers, all new pads, brembo rotors, and the caliper mounting bolts with washers. I was wondering if there will be a problem if i use the stock brake lines. i would also like to know where i can buy the rear track brake shield so i dont have to cut my stock one. thanks again

Your current lines will not work with the Brembo calipers. You'll either have to pick up the oem brembo lines or some aftermarket stainless steel lines that fit the brembo.

Don't even change your brakes if you aren't considering putting SS lines in. Unless you don't want to maximize your brake upgrade. If you are putting on brembos just for show, it won't matter however.

So if you don't want to cut your stock back dust covers, are you planning on pulling all that stuff apart?

Looked like a lot of work to me, I just cut mine.

I cut mine also. The stock lines of the track model will not fit the non-brembo setup. Just buy some Goodridge SS lines for the track model and save yourself the trouble.

I figured it would be better if i replaced the sheild. But i will have to look closer to determine how much of a pain it will be to swap the sheilds out. Ok so i dont mind picking up lines, however now the search begins for lines that have jackets over the braid to keep out dirt that will wear away the internals. Anybody know where i can get such a line?

Dude, you wont get anymore dirt with the old shield cut out than with the track model one. The shield only covers the rotors. Don't over complicate things. Put on the brake rotors, calipers will fit in the stock brackets and put in the SS lines. Bleed and your through.

Stoptech lines have this kind of cover and can be found at mynismo.com

russell brake lines (owned by Edelbrock) can be bought on ebay from FCRC Machines or something like that. Great service, received my SS lines in a matter of a few days. His prices are outstanding, check him out.

For the front removing the dust shield isn't really that bad. You do need to remove the speed sensor and the 4, I believe, 22mm bolts holding the hub to the spindle. Once you undo that, you take the heat shield right off. Put the speed sensor and hub back on and your done.
