hey guys,
So I'm moving into a new house on Feb 26. The house is awesome and I love everything about it. Except for one thing. The roads in the neighborhood are the kind that have concrete drainage things on both sides. Not sure what they're called. But basically it makes it so that when you turn into your driveway there is a shar upward angle from the road. I tested the Z to make sure it would even go in the driveway before we made an offer and it did. Just barely though. I have to kind of hit it at an angle (if i try to go straight in the front will scrape. So its fine right now, but I've been wanting to do a mild drop (hotchkis) on my car ever since i got 19's installed, but I'm pretty sure that If i do that now I will scrape now matter what angle i come in at. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could get around this little delima? I thought about hiring someone to come out and smooth it out but the HOA said I couldn't do that. I searched for like an in car adjustable suspension but I couldn't find one. Any ideas?

Can you build a little bridge over the ditch? I actually have a friend in a similar situation who has a few sheets of plywood at the end of his driveway to avoid scraping. Not the best looking solution, but it works!
Drive the car slowly off the street and up the driveway and have somebody observe from outside to see how low any parts of the car come to hitting ground. That will tell you how much lower you can go.
Basically you have four choices, 1) lower and live with it, 2) don't lower, 3) find a different house, 4) tear up the driveway and repave it with a longer approach for less angle.

haha. the funny thing is I've actually thought about that exact idea. But I want something a little less ghetto. I told my girlfriend before i tested the car as it is now that if it wouldn't go in thats what I would do. But I don't thinkg I'm gonna do something like that so I can lower the car. If it comes down to it I'll just have to leave it at the stock ride height

Dang! I know what you mean...I had a house like that. Instead of a square curb where the sidewalk is and a nice ramp where the driveway is, it has an angled curb (like 30-40 degrees or so) everywhere.
I would not lower your car. Even without lowering (I know you'd be extra careful) the real question here is; Does your wife drive the z?
My wife used to back my mildly lowered M3 out too fast and I'd hear CRUNCH
as the front lip would get crunched once the front wheels went down the angled curb. I would be so pissed
It didn't seem to hurt anything, but it still wasn't right that she didn't seem to care. I'd hide in the back of the house and try not to listen to her pull out.
Almost wanted to tell her she could not drive it
If you want to lower for performance rather than looks, there is plenty you can do for suspention performance before or instead of lowering it.
We did not have the Zs at the time. That would have been ugly. Good luck and sorry about the curbs.

what part of what i said would make you think I live with my parents? I specifically mentioned making an offer on the house. I don't think people who live with their parents make the offers when their parents buy a new house man. Don't know if you were being funny or what.
You can get the air suspension. That would allow you to raise and lower the vehicle height. It's not how I would prefer to do suspension, but it is an option for your situation.
Show us some pictures of the curb, man.
I used to rent a place that had a front gate that had a metal post that stuck out of the ground an inch or two. My lowered car would scrape on it all the time so one day I took a sledge hammer and beat it into the ground. The landlord never mentioned it and still sings my praises to this day for being a great tennant.
Its too bad you already mentioned this to the HOA. Otherwise you could just do what you wanted and plead ignorance of the situation if it was ever mentioned. Not the most honest route, but whatever.

I say...stop whining, lower your car and scrape the hell out of your lower front bumper! I havent been able to drive straight up any driveway for at least 10 years now! Any vertical entry will always require an angle if your lowered, at least here in socal. Even then it scrapes. Its a way of life...
