Default Anyone Taken off Rotor Guard Plate?

I was thinking of ways to help my brakes cool when on the track. Someone suggested taking off the "pie plate" rotor guards on the suspension. Has anyone done this on the 350?

Default removal

removed disk covers and had a muffler shop weld 21/2" tubing and I attached flex tubing to cool my brakes. Went to lapping event last Sunday but it was too cold to notice if cooling system worked.

Default

How did you remove them? Do they unbolt? Did you have to take off the entire brake caliper to take them off?

Default yes to all your questions

It is a little time consuming but can be a DIY project. I did have to go and have the dealer loosen my caliber bolts because they were tighter than what my tools could handle. After that it was pretty simple.
