Default Eibach Pro Kit

I was wondering what the ride quality will be with the eibach pro kit it says that it will lower it 1.0 in front and 1.0 in the rear wondering if it will be too low anyone have this setup on the stock 17's?

The drop is 0.8" in the front and 1.2" in the rear. Do a quick search and you'll find nothing but good comments on the new ride experience. I have the enthusiast model (17's) and love the way it looks and handles. Almost a completely new car with the Pro-Kit installed. The best $325 I've spent on the car yet...

IF EIBACH is bad, then most of lower springs in aftermarket will be ShXXty

VQ - I might be wrong but I think it's his way of saying that if you don't get an improvement out of the Eibachs, you likely won't get anything from any other company either.

However, we need to examine the parameters of his scale. What is the value of 'shXXty' verses the value of 'bad'? I assume that bad is better than shxxty - but then again I am an optimist. Hmmm - or something like that.

Okay - just having fun - slow morning at work and looking forward to the weekend and a few hours behind the wheel of my very un-bad, un-shXXty 350Z!

TheLex: Re aftermarket matching shocks, I'm going to wait for Eibach to release its shock package (Pro Damper Kit?) in a month or two. I believe they are working on matching sway bars as well. By the way, I've had the springs for about a month now and am more than pleased with the results. Yes you can absolutely feel the difference.

The drop is subtle. When my brother looked at the car after the install, he didn't say "You dropped your car didn't you?" He said, "What's different about your car? Whatever you did, it looks good."

Kraigman, thanks for the info. You're yet another person who's given the Eibach springs a positive review. It seems to be the most cost effective suspension mod so far. If Eibach is coming up with matching shocks and sway bars, won't the cost come close to the Nismo kit? That kit has gotten equally impressive reviews.

The Eibach's lower the car enough to cause me to hit many things I did not before. The handling is different, not necessarily better. There is too much camber now and I have lost traction on corner exists. Extra tire wear is a definite result. I am one that thinks the stock set-up if good. It is always a compromise. I do not notice much bounce like others, but my other car is a race Miata that bounces a lot. I will probably take the Eibach's off. I do not like the extra camber and the handling differences are not worth hitting every driveway with my now ripped-up front lip and belly.

The Eibachs are great!
I'm very happy w/ them--it made the Sterring wheel a little tighter--and the drop I think goes a little fartherthen they say--but I'm glad--I wanted them mainly for the drop----> Butit sits perfect and yes,.you do tend to hit some things that you didn't before--like mainly under the car--but I still haven't scrubbed the Front bumper so I'm all good--although I use to driving lowered cars-so I got it down pat!

You will like them---Trust me!

I'm considering the pro kit.

From the pictures i've seen so far (I haven't seen it in person), I love the overall look of the drop on 19" wheels -- gives the Z33 more of a Z32 "low and wide" look.

But correct me if I'm wrong, on 18's it seems the wheel wells have a wide 'gaping' look to them that I can't really describe. This opinion of mine may have been influenced by bad angles on some of the pictures... so let me know if it looks better in person.

Default Eibach w/18 inch SSRs

zxsaint:

This may be another bad angled pic. I just had the Eibach's installed today and it's not too too "gappy" for me. The ride is much better, however.

You also won't be able to define where the tire sits because it's dark in there. I'll take some more when the sun comes out tomorrow and will post if you'd like better pics.

Talking

Got mine installed today.

Let me state that I did NOT want any kind of drop, but I liked the set. So I was extremely worried about the drop.

Result : it is beautifull. It really looks very good, and it still has to settle down a bit. Also, you inmediatly notice the change specially on turns. Did seem a little tighther to turn the wheels, but just enough to make you think it is in your head and not real...

I think it is the best $$$ spent. I also want to get the shock set later. It still beats coilover cost by a bundle. I don't track my car so adjusting coilovers was not very required.

Pictures tomorrow, too dark now. Also I will be with the club tomorrow so we plan to take pictures next to regular rides so you can see the diff.

Where did you guys go to get your Eibachs installed? And how much did it cost? I'm getting qoutes from $550-650 from local dealers, including alignment.

I have the service manual on CD, so I'm thinking about doing it myself and saving the money for other mods.

thanks,

The Eibachs are quite good although don't expect much difference in handling. It does little without a decent damper. I carry them but am dumping them and going to Tein as soon as Tein has theirs available. No reason why people should pay so much for Eibachs when Tein's are just as good and much cheaper. If you want a good suspension upgrade look to a complete coilover package. THat way you get a matched spring and shock. Look for a short stroke shock to handle the lower ride height. Some even match the case length to the ride height like the Tein Flex and the JIC FLT-A2's.

DAMN!!! Thats insane!---man I got mine done for $100(install)--$220 shipped for the springs!
They should charge $50 an hr(Labor)--it only takes like about 45mins--alignment was another $60
19" wheels are a ***** to find someone that can aligned----but mine turned out great!!! I love em!!!

Paid $220 shipped from Todd at Discount Tire. I installed them myself in a couple hours with alignment. Only front toe was affected. Half turn out (extension) on each side. Shocks will not do too much. I have been racing for years and shocks are important, but the springs and sway bars are more important. I still believe the Eibachs are lowering the car too much. The Z uses the best type of suspension known - double wishbone. You do not want to lower this suspension much. I think 1/2" is about all you want with a moderatly stiffer set-up. This is not a Porsche or BMW with a 30 year old design that needs to be made into a go-cart and lowered to work right. But if all you are worried with is looks and want it to look like a low rider, then the Eibachs are the best way.

Even if the installer was relatively unfamilar with the Z, and it took him longer to install, there is no way it should be any more $250. I've gotten springs installed on other cars for about $150.

Saying that underdampning or overdampning are not important elements to a cars performance is simply not true. Springs and sway bars set the tone of a cars handling, but they need shocks/struts that can control the springs movements in a proper fashion. It is a control issue, get it wrong and the guy next to you on the track that did the work to get it right will reach the finish line before you. Learn not to except things that would get a teams suspension engineer fired.

Teins web site shows lowering springs for the G35, but the model year shows 99+ (part# SKP14-AUBOOO) When I look at the nissan fitments to see if maybe they are older skyline springs, the part# does not match any of them on the nissan fitment page. They lower the car 2" front 1.3" rear Since the FLEX coilovers are the same part numbers for the G35 as the 350Z I think is safe to say the springs for the 350Z springs from Tein are here, just don't understand the 99+ thing or why those same springs aren't listed on the nissan page as 350Z springs.

One thing I want to say, it's not fair to bring up the Tein coilovers without warning people that they are rather stiff. They use 559lbs spring rates front and rear. Granted the Z is a sports car, but to the uninformed they might be a unwelcome surprise. I am in agrement on the need for matching struts/springs issue.

Eibach pro-kit 350Z spring rates (first number is with the weight of the car resting of the springs. Second number is with the spring fully compressed to the cars bump stops)

350Z front 296lbs/384lbs rear 316lbs/421lbs
G35 sedan front 259lbs/334.bs rear 359lbs/413lbs
Tein springs* front 358lbs rear 274lbs
Tein coilovers front 559lbs rear 559lbs +or- 112lbs

*refer to the 1st paragraph above about the Tein springs
