Stupid suspension question
Has anyone used aftermarket springs on stock shocks? I noticed a lot of people are using hotchkis springs, but nobody ever lists the shocks they use.
And why does everybody seem to be selling their Tein S-Tech springs. They're all over the classifieds

Most springs can easily be paired up with a set of stock shocks. Yes, while they may cause your shocks to wear a little faster most people will be enjoy the ride for quite some time. We have experimented with many spring/stock shock combos and have not suffered any premature wear to date.
On one of our Z's we have run Eibachs for 48K and not had any issues.
Another Z is running Nismo S-tune springs for 22K.
Depends on the abuse the car sees from the roads it drives on. The springs will not necessarily diminish the life of the stock shocks/struts. Hitting potholes and abusing the suspension with a higher spring rate will force the shock to absorb more of the impact and thus wear out earlier. Normal driving should truly not impact the life of the stock set-up. Now upgrading the shocks/struts when you have the resources will present an entirely different and enhanced driving experience.
