Teins were installed on Wednesday. I thought I'd post some pics for anyone curious about the Teins- EDFC is on order and should be installed next week- I'll post pics when it's done.

 

that look like the perfect ride height... they're the coilover system, right??? how much did you lower it??? and what's the $$$ damage??? oh yeah, any rubbing issues???

 

Hardy- Thanks for the comments. Yes the Teins are what is commonly referred to as a coilover system. The set runs about $1,600. No rubbing issues at all.

Pics look real good. How is the ride compared to stock? Is it adjustable? I want something a little bit stiffer then stock. Did you install yourself?

John350z- Maybe someday it will be as nice as yours You really do have one of the best looking Z's out there. I wish you would have come to dinner with us after HIN so I could have seen you car first hand. Eventually....

Ravaz- The ride is a little harsher but I don't have the EDFC installed yet and I'll been to busy to tweak it manually. I like the suspension a bit on the tight side. Good thing is that the bounce that plagues the stock suspension is gone as is understeer. I bought them through Gruppe-S and had them do the install as well.

 

failsaf3-thanx for the compliment. but your car, in my eyes, is already as nice as mine. the mods i did are an expression of my individuality and personality. i can't wait to see what else you do with your car. yeah, i wished i could've made it to dinner after hin, but i was so tired and i had to be at work at 6 in the morning. daylight savings time didn't help either.

If you install the EDFC, do you lose your strut bar? Your handling improved with this? Just wondering, never installed coilovers before.

John- I'm not signed up to head down with the caravan, but I may end up going- trying to get some of my buddies from San Diego to cruise up and meet me. My wifes best friend lives in Hollywood so I may drop her off and go to the show- If it turns out that I can make it I'll try to schedule it so I can drive doown with the rest of the Z's.

Ravaz- I've heard this rumor too (you have to remove the strut bar- I have heard this is just a rumor though. I think there are some people on this forum that have installed the EDFC and did not have to remove any strut bars.

John- you used to have the Teins right? How do you like the JIC setup compared to the Teins- The only reason I went with the Teins is becuase of the EDFC (I'm lazy). I be interested in your input on the differences in the set ups.

BTW- thanks for the clarification on the strut bar thing.

 

failsaf3-i had the teins with edfc, but did not install them. i sold them to chebosto. my friend has them though with the edfc. it rides really good, but i wanted a more stiff suspension set-up. your tein suspension is great for the street and track. mine jic is mostly for track usage, but is liveable on the street. i like my ride stiff though. i also chose the jic over the teins because the jics were a monotube shock, and the teins were a double tube. i prefer monotube.

Moodie- Thanks. Were you finally able to see them?- I just emailed you a couple as req in your PM.

 

VQ- mono tube are typically high pressure gas- whereas twin tube are usually low pressure gas.
Also I believe twin are more likely to be susceptible to heat and "foaming" (air in the oil making it less resistant). Because of this very slight movements are not dampened.
Single tube use a dividing piston to separate the gas (nitrogen) and the oil meaning that foaming is elimiated and thus very slight movements are aslo dampened.

John350z- how the hell do you get access to adjust the rear dampening on your JIC's? Doesn't the strut bar pretty much impede all access?

 

drilled holes on the strut bar over the struts for easy access for the tool.

failsaf3: come join us on the drive down!! anyways, I like to take a ride in your car after you get the EDFC installed. Been eyeing the teins for a while, but not sure if that's something I want to do if the ride gets worst than it is now.
