Default Bilstein PSS9 VS Tein Mono Flex

Hi! I am new to this forum. Hope can share some experience here.

I am thinking to upgrade my stock to Bilstein PSS9 coilover or Tein mono Flex.

Anyone is using those C/O. Please give me some hints for my shopping.

PSS9 has better built quality and better quality control.
Some tein are good some are not. My friends EVO's Tein Flex was really good and my Old tein Flex for Civic Si is bad for big time.
It will not cost you much to rebuid pss9 in US.

Oh wow, you've made two choices that are rather polar opposites, kinda doesn't look like your making choices based on any kind of research as to really know what's good or bad about either choice. So I see a different reason to call for research.

Biltein's PSS9 kit uses spring rates that are mildly stiiffer then oem with progressive springs in the rear that have a wide rate spread between initial and final rates. The kit adjust's rideheight by adjusting spring preload. This setup will appeal most to those that only want a mild increase in roll stiffness and are unconcerned by the dynamic's of the progressive spring setup in the rear and it's effect on at the limit behavior. Without question, Bilstein offer's good products that tend to be valved well (can't be said about all Z33 products on the market), and you have Bilstein shop services at your disposal should you need or desire that.

Bilstein PSS9 coilover (Monotube construction, adjustable dampners)
Special Note: Mild spring rates, but Bilstein says the dampners are performance valved
Spring rates 370/240-420 (rear progressive)
Z33 oem spring rates 2003-2004 314/342 2004.5+ 314/427

In comparison, Tein's Monoflex is at the other end of the market place, with spring rates that are amoung the highest offered for the Z33. One must be able to say you can run that much spring successfully, maintaining tire contact is the key. The setup does have full length adjustable dampners for the ability to adjust ride height independent of spring preload and you can use Tien's EDFC if you desire.

Tein MonoFlex (MFP) (Monotube construction, adjustable dampners)
Special Note: Use's spring rates that may not actually benefit you, decide carefully if you will be able to maintain tire contact where you drive in everyday or on your favorite track/course.
Spring rates in LBS 783/783 (Tein does valve them to use a 112lbs lower spring rate if desired).

These would offer you a choice that is inbetween.

Tein Flex JDM specs
Full-length adjustment and height adjustment for separate setting of the height and spring preload
Spring rates 560/560
Side Note: This is the original specs first offered in the U.S. with the Flex, shortly after it’s introduction the specs changed (672/672 LBS)

Installed the PSS9 today. First impression compare with stock, more comfort, quiet, better in corner, easier to control. Will do more on the setting next week. I think I got a right choice. At least fit my driving style and daily drive.

Bilstein is german. Like all german cars, suspension is undersprung and overdamped.

Tein is japanese, and the japs like their cars to be oversprung. If you have good roads were you live, thats ok. If not, I would prefer overdamped for better highspeed stability and bad roads.

Does that make sense?
