Im sure your kidding, but what? That must only be funny to you kinda.

In any case, painting your stock calipers a black or silver would be alright. I would stay away from pretty much all other colors that would draw attention to them. Dont do red, or yellow. That would just be hideous. A sticker might look alright, but there isnt a whole lot of room for it, so Im not really sure on what you were looking to get out of it.

Black or silver, like everyone else said. Red just draws attention to the calipers which are way to small-looking.

Of course I'm kidding and this thread is not just for me, but to anyone else that has questioned it.

I think at least for the "aftermarket bbk volks" we have a strong argument: If we like painting our stock calipers we wouln't have spent the big bucks for the new brake system - right?

Just save up and get a BBK or OEM Brembo. Honestly I have to admit I considered what you said + some stoptech rotors. However, after considering my options I just don't see it as being worthwhile. At the end, I know I wouldn't be happy with it. I ended up with this instead...and I think it's the best choice.

For about 1.8k ~ 2k you can get some nicely used OEM Brembos from a Track, GT, or 35th Anniversary Edition Z and do the install yourself.
Not everyone needs/wants a BBK. Or has/wants to drop 2K on brakes, if their stock brakes are doing just fine for their style driving. I think if done tastefully it would be fine. He can always repaint them silver or black if it looks rice.

obviously choosing red means that he wants other people to notice them behind the wheels (show off factor) Which is cool, but IMO showing off single piston stock brakes by painting them red is really rice.

+1,000,000

You have a 25k+ two seater , rwd, sports car. Just add a bbk. Z already looks expensive, make it look even better. I'd understand one day when the z depreciates down to 10k-12k dollars and ricer kids that can't afford brakes so they paint the calipers.

If you are trying to mod and don't have enough money, you shouldn't mod until you do. There is no hurry.

If you decide to paint, why not powdercoat instead....usually it's more durable and looks better. If you can find someone local downtime shouldn't be that bad either. I have seen some decent paint jobs though, but I'd still go the other route...

I painted mine red and put "NISSAN" decal only on the fronts. Say what you want, I think it looks good.
Only rice to the hardcore tuners.

People buy BBKs more for performance than for the color they come in. Even then, sometimes the color of the BBK calipers don't match the car's theme, so some people have them repainted.

If it's okay to paint BBK calipers, I would say that it's okay to paint OEM calipers too.

So basically your saying, if you can't afford a BBK, or don't want/need a BBK, you have to deal with the oxidized grayish stock caliper, or be rice. Even though the rest of your car looks pristine. This is just as bad as the guys who always answer an engine performance question with "Just go forced induction". And believe no Z is fast unless it's got a turbo or supercharger on it. If everyone wanted/could afford a supercharger, we'd have it.

No, he's saying choose a subtle color that doesn't stand out like silver or black, not bright red or blue.

My stock brakes look so small with my 19" GTS wheels. I think painting them would make them look even more ridiculous.

i have redline z and i painted mine red with the brackets black. i have a lot of black mods and cf so it looks nice to me, not rice. oxidation looks ridiculous and i would rather leather seats so i didn't buy a track but some day i'll upgrade to brembo or something. having brembos on a stock z is a little excessive if you ask me but everything aint for everybody so i say do what you think looks better!
