Truechoice/Unitech/Koni Owners Help!
If it's rebound adjustable, the rebound might be on softest setting. I noticed when I was set on lowest rebound, the shocks didn't move after being compressed. After turning it up to max, it came up pretty fast after compressing.

I've had the same setup for over two years.
They are hydraulic shocks so they will not rebound on their own!
They don't come with collar wrenches. You can just use a flat screw driver and hammer to get them loosened. I already had some wrenches. You can buy them cheap at an auto store.
I forget if you re-use the front bolts. I think I did, but I know that lowes has a good selection of hardened metric bolts if you need them.
Enjoy one of the best setups for the Z.

Koni shocks are low pressure gas shocks and they come back up but very very slowly. If you had them on full stiffness it almost seems like it doesnt come up unless you pull up on them, if you had them on low setting then it should come back up but very very slow.
Yeah it was quite a suprise pulling the shocks out of the box and seeing they were compressed without a strap or something holding them that way and realizing they're degassed. I've been meaning to pickup the phone and ask them why they didn't replace the gas charge for this application or if all DA conversion's are degassed by all Koni authorized providers?

But it's okay, after a PM from another very knowledgeable member, I actually wanted to have them rebuilt immediately after I got them anyways. I'm actually more worried about the longevity of these coilovers. The previous owner only put about 7k miles on them but did attended 18 track events. Now that you told me they're hydraulic, I can now sleep at night
Thanks for all your replies. You guys are always helpful!

and 40K street miles on mine with no issues. I did have a leaking issue and one blown compression ring when they were brand new, but Truechoice promptly took care of it for me, and I have had no problems since. I heard rumors that koni got a bad batch of o-rings which would explain why ALL of mine ended up leaking in the first few months. I was planning to rebuild them at the end of this season as part of my maintence. They're sure not cheap to rebuild. Also to let you know, Performance Shocks at Infineon Raceway can also rebuild them for you. I'll be sticking with Truechoice because they have treated me very well and given me some good setup advice.
Vince, did truechoice give you a before and after shock dyno of your shocks? Was the rebuild necessary? I'm still thinking mine are fine and don't need a rebuild after years of thrashing.

Shock settings should easily dial out any under/oversteer. Don't be afraid to play with them. Add 2 sweeps of compression to get some exit rotation, or add 2 sweeps rebound for entry rotation. Unlike your old JIC's the koni adjustments will actually do something..
ps. don't feel like you have to post the shock dyno. Let other companies do their own R&D

The recommended settings were a good starting point. I made some adjustments to them though. I've also changed spring rates a few times now to suit my taste.
