Default Questions for those who have R1concepts

Hi i have a few questions about R1concepts rotors and pads for those of you who have, or have had them.

How long have you had them for?

How many miles have you put on them?

Have you had any problems with them? ( cracking brake fade.. etc)

thanks,
Vincent

Have them on for about 6 months now, or 4.5k miles.
No issues, and I've done two track days with them. No warping or cracking from trach use using Porterfield R4 pads and some old EBC RedStuf Ceramic pads. No rusting issues, not sure why anyone would say they have a problem with that since they come zinc-plated. Mine are slotted/cross drilled. I would have gone slotted only if that was an option, but at least the cross-drilling was chamfered. Very inexpensive and quieter than stock. But they wear faster than stock rotors. Of course, I can buy like five sets of these for the cost of one set of OEM rotors, so I don't care if they only last half as long.

Prices are very attractive but I'm a little dubious of quality. If the R1 rep could provide some materials and manufacturing specs, especially as they compare to other rotor suppliers, it would be appreciated.

Holy Moses, that's insane. Talk about rust. I don't have my car garaged due to some home construction, so it has been sitting outside for around three months or so. Even with daily rain in the evening and not driving the car for a week at a time, there is no rusting anywhere on the rotor. Now looking at all the rust on the hat in your pics- that's crazy. Have you tried to return/exchange them?

From Davidv's earlier pictures these appear to be uncoated. my guess is for some extra $$ the zinc plating would solve this issue. Davidv, is this the only issue with these so far? (BTW great wheels!)if it is these are still a great deal!

FWIW There is another brand of bargain rotors I'm using on my Brembo equipped car www.rotorpros.com they use Centric Rotors exclusively I've done a bunch of autocrosses & commuting on them daily over the last 5K miles. no complaints or rust so far.

I didn't pay anything extra for a special coating. Performance is on par with the OEM brakes. One big plus is that the pads are virtually dust free.

that would explain it. when I bought mine there was no option on the zinc plating- they just came that way. So I assumed it was a standard feature on all their rotors.

Mine rock have 2 full 8 hour track days on em, no warping and not really sure what everybody is saying about the warping or wear. I changed out the original brake pads put is favor of Hawk pads, still not seeing the wear on the rotors, also no rust mine were zinc plated so they look great. I am thinking about ordering a 2nd set for the future, only wish they had the extra hole on the rotors that let you screw them to the backing plate like the originals from MiSSan

most of those ebay rotors are chinese blanks that cost no more than 5 dollars a unit. all their hype about computer balanced champhered drilling is bs, they just machine press the rotors in one push. the last 2 areas you want to go cheap are the tires and brakes...tires hold the car to the road and the brakes stop it...if your life is worth saving 100 bucks do it, we overpopulation needs to be addressed
