Default Car pulls right under braking

this started happening recently...under braking the car is pulling to the right. got it aligned a month ago and it drives fine and straight...

it pulls harder to the right under heavy braking...i am wondering what might cause this? pads? caliper? rotor? any ideas?

pad wear looks ok and rotor is in good shape.

thnx

take the wheels off and check the calipers for stuck pads/ weird wear marks on the rotors.

i used to have this problem with an old honda civic. i had it aligned but it would still drift to the right especially while braking. i had it checked out and was told it was the caster angle. the mechanic said the wheels on the right side were slightly behind the left ones. anyway i sold the car and didn't learn too much about the problem but it may be a start for you. also here's a link that may help... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caster_angle.

thnx for the replies...will get it checked out this weekend

come to think of it...wht would cause the caster angle to be off? if thats the problem...

and why would the car pull only under braking? just puzzles me but will find out soon hopefully.

cheers

+1 If it pulls only when you are braking then you need to check the calipers, pads, and rotors. This will not be an alignment issue.

I have seen this issue (years ago) on another vehicle type, and it was tie-rod ends.

You may have a flex brake line failure, If one is staring to collapse, which is not uncommon at your mileage @ 40,000 plus you will get an imbalance and in many cases a stuck Caliper.....Pressure allows fluid to activate the pistons, but the inner tube collapse doesnt allow it to depressurize.

Just replace them-----If it solves the problem, fine. If it doesnt, then consider it preventative maintenence for what will happen eventually. Go S/S, they dont collapse

the car doesnt pull to the right as hard when the brakes are cool, the first 2-3 minutes when i start it..

i noticed that it pulls harder after the brakes are warmed up...just fyi

If you have been heating up a rotor then you have warpage and if you have warpage, you are heating up the rotor---Its a cycle ... You just need a brake job. Worn pads are NOT the only reason to do a brake job....your out of balance and you need to start fresh

check your tie rods, check your pads, get an alignment.

$300 after...got the issue resolved

had to replace front rotors and pads

also needed a bit alignment.

new rotors and pads dont bite as much as the old set...i assume need some time and miles to warm up?

May need to bed them in, or bleed air from your brakes, or the new pads may just have less bite.
