Default Do you think this is true?

Ok so here's the deal,

In the last few weeks my Z started squealing when i come to a complete stop. sounds like the wear markers which means it's time for new pads. I have 37k miles on it so i figure it's about due. It feels fine when I brake.....no vibrating or anything like that. Well I take it to a local repair shop where i get my tires and oil changes done and they tell me that the rotors are too thin and they can't turn them and that they won't put pads on for me unless they replace the rotors because they are in bad shape. Did any of you guys need new rotors at 37k? I never track my car or drive it very hard. 95% of the miles are highway back and forth to work. I just wanted some input from the experts on the forum before i shell out more money for rotors just incase I don't really have to and they are just trying to make an extra buck.

it is all about how you drive. replacing rotors is a normal thing(they do wear down)

I know they were going to put some junk autozone rotors on it along with Monroe pads. and charge me about $400 installed, haha I've done some searching and found OEM size stoptech slotted rotors and hawk HPS pads shipped for $325 then whatever additional cost it will be to install, either way it's a better setup than what they are trying to give me.

I would personally seek a 2nd opinion. If you can afford to have some down time, take them off and take them to a local autoparts store. They'll tell you whether or not they can turn them.

37k under normal driving conditions seems a bit too soon IMO.

I'm about to replace my rotors and pads and I'm @ 27k on my Z. I didn't check to see if my rotors could be turned, but they feel and sound slightly warped. I don't track at all, and I think the rotors are still under waranty, but I thought, what the heck, time for a BBK!!!
