Please help me make a good brake parts decision.
I thought I made up my mind a long time ago, but now that it is actually time to replace my Brembo rotors on my 04 G35 coupe I am debating. I have started tracking my car every six months, though without trying to set any records on the track...just have fun. That being said I have gotten away with just using my Hawk HPS pads and being very sensitive to signs of brake fade with no problems.
I miss the inital bite of the stock OEM pads and don't care about dust. I love the brakes on this car...they were part of the selling points. I have read about the brake assist function being calibrated to the soft OEM pads and rotors and thus after market equipment can lengthen an emergency stop on cold brakes. I have read about poor quality aftermarket shims causing problems...I still have the original set of shims installed with the Hawk pads. I have also read about excessive squeeling from aftermarket set ups due to the mis-match of pads/rotors/shims..or no shims used. BLAH BLAH BLAH
Any way here are my two choices.
A. OEM rotors and pads that even on mynismo.com cost over 2000.00 just for pads and rotors.
B. Stoptech stage two kit with the aerorotors and axxis ultimate pads and of course the steel braided lines.
The minor squeel of the original stock brembos never bothered me. I loved the original setup...it is just incredible expensive and I have also been intriqued by the stoptechs setup for a couple of years as well.
Please give me some advise and plus and minus comments as well on which choice to make.

Just some info for you.
The 2pc Aero-Rotors will save you 2.5lbs per corner. This will let you put a little more power to the ground, and the car will feel a little more lively.
The stage kit will come with Axxis ULT pads, which have good initial bite and a decent operating temperature. They will have a fair amount of dust, but that doesn't appear to be a concern of yours. You will also get StopTech stainless lines, and Motul fluid to complement your new pads and rotors. All this will still come in at a less expensive price than the OEM pads and rotors.
Alternatively you can also go with our slotted 1 pc rotors. It just does not have the benefits of a lighter rotor, and Aero-Rotor vane design, which flows more air.
Noise issues are usually quelled down w/ a bed in procedure. A good bed-in after the install of these pads will keep them quiet.

The Stoptech staged brake packages, in a word, are a bargain for what you get - even in Aero rotor form, which can get a bit pricey, it's a fantastic deal for the level of kit, and it's been proven for reliability time and time again

Thank you Andi...and Eddie for being so informative and patient with all my questions. These are going on the car tomorrow with the help of a friend of mine along with Stoptech SS lines and Nismo R-Tune pads.

I am glad to hear you are having fun with your g on the track but you
may have problems as you get faster and faster even with your newest
upgrades, i have an 06 350z GT that comes with brembos- i put on 2piece
slotted front rotors with nismo r-tune pads and 1 piece slotted rotors with
upgraded pads in rear, ss lines f+r with motul 600 fluid- i have found out
that this is still not good enough-i run my car at Sebring 3.7 mile road course
still get some brake fade with threshold braking and reduced stopping power
as they get hotter and hotter-calipers are turning funny colors etc...
if you plan on getting more aggressive with your lap times and increasing
more speed you may have to go to a bbk-that is what i am contemplating
next or upgrading my car to something that comes more prepared to handle
the stress i am putting it through(porsche, corvette, etc..)

Thanks for the information. I will make sure to continue to be aware of signs of fade and not just think..."hey these brakes are kick *** and will never fail me" I bet they will be a ton better than the last time I went however.
The last time I went to Sebring I definitely had one major case of fade going into the Buttonhole and many other times of minor fade. Even though I have only been going to Sebring every six months my knowledge of the track and my confidence continues to grow...though fairly slowly. That confidence finally let me learn how inadequate my Hawk HPS were for the track at my current level. Anyway, I am starting to babble.
I would think that any vehicle would need some brake upgrades for serious track duty...no/yes.? If you still love the 350z then go with the BBK. But if you have the money and the desire for an even more extreme sports car in the not so distance future I would save your money. I am still loving the G35 and only track twice a year. So with my savings goals in mind for retirement and the fact that I only make a teachers salary, the G will be in my family for many years to come.
