Am I getting shafted by the dealership?
Hey everyone, the dealership service department says I need new rotors and brakes after 16k miles. They said it is typical for all Zs.
They are asking for 500+
Anyone have any opinions and ideas on how I can save some $$?
Thanks in advance

new brakes and rotors? did you warp them? If so thats prob. your fault. If not then it should be under warranty i would think. I would get a stoptech stage 2 kit and call it a day install it yourself for a little more then the total the dealership is asking. Plus alot better performance.
+1 on stage two kit.
I've notice there's alot of guys hear that are hard on there brakes. I also just now have 16k miles on my stock system. Still have half the brake life left on the pads and rotors look and feel real good.

I have mentioned this to the dealership as well. They said that the brakes are not under warranty because of some weird stipulation.
Can anyone verify this?
Thanks again for all the useful inputs.

So it's not under warranty. Thanks for your help though.
I hate to see anyone taken by the dealer for unnecessary repairs.
Brake pads. Worn pads are easy to recognise because they screech. There is a metal wear clip inside the pad that rubs against the rotor.
Rotors. Rotors are a bit more complicated. Maximum rotor wear is 2 mm. Overall thickness can be measured with a micrometer.
There are plenty of suitable OEM replacement parts available that are as good or better than OEM parts. And are less expensive. That's what this forum is about.

Thanks for your inputs, I will definitely look for some aftermarket parts, and try to get additional inputs on the rotor replacements.
