Question H&r Springs

im putting these on an 03 g35 sedan ..

these are lowering springs..

first off their h&r springs (#53050) made for a 350z ...
lowers a 350z 03-and up
1.3 front 1.0 rear

now im not sure if its a good idea to just mount them on with the stock struts on my g35 sedan..

i hear its ok .. to use them on stock shocks

&

i hear it will kill your stock shocks in a few months

if i were to replace the stock shocks ..

i was thinking of koni yellows

or billsteins

i was told to just use the stock 350z shocks

or should i use aftermarket oem 350z shocks .??

what to do what to do ..

wait till i get new struts

or

go for it and replace stock springs out ..

and which would be better .??

help me out guys ...

Default Re: H&R springs

I've had the H&R springs on my 350Z for about a year and i have no complaints at all. My shocks look and feel fine. THe springs r pretty good too. THey r softer than some of the other springs out there but i quite like that as the ride is not very hard.

I'd recommend them but that's based on experience with a 350z.

^ Isn't this your thread on G35driver?

Point blank, your going get people that will tell you to do a lot of things who don't know what is really going on or have grown accustomed to doing things in a half as*ed way where they are used to the medicore results they gain from that. Unless you really don't care, it's a great platform, you deserve better.

350Z owner's are not going to know that your oem sedan shocks are not as stiff as oem Z shocks. They aren't going to know that your the same shocks have 3/4" taller body/piston rod lengths vs oem Z shocks and already tight piston stroke travel ranges are going to be that much worse. Making the bump stops that much of a secondary spring is not what you want, it's NOT a shock longevity issue.

WELL YEAH THATS MY THREAD IN DRIVER ..

I BASICALLY DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO ..

BASED ON GETTING DIFFERENT INFO FROM DIFFERENT SOURCES..

SO WHAT YOUR SAYING IS .. I SHOULD NOT JUST ADD THE SPRINGS "WITHOUT" REPLACING SHOCKS/STRUTS WITH Z SHOCKS/STRUTS..??

I NEED GUIDANCE ..

I don't know how else to say this and I really don't want to and it will be kinda boring but,... I've done far more reasearch and testing of suspension setups then anyone else telling you to do the wrong thing. When I speak up about something, it's a bankable thing. Dropping 2.3" on oem sedan shocks and saying it's all good is totally false, your going to be making the bump stops a secondary spring and when that happens it becomes a spring rate your oem shocks simply cannot dampen let alone be something that anyone who know's what they are talking about can say is ok. Again, I ran a simular setup as a test with Koni shocks (remember they are the same 3/4" shorter length as oem Z shocks vs sedan shocks) with Tokico D-spec springs. I considered the test a failure because of insuffecient shock piston stroke issues even with the special Koni bump stops that I was running that are far shorter then oem bump stops. Only thing that might have helped may have been the use of Tokico D-spec shocks run at higher damping settings, Koni shocks cannot be made stiffer on bump like D-specs can. And that setup dropped me 2", your talking about 2.3" of drop. Oem 05-07 Z shocks aren't going to have any greater stiffness on bump if at all vs Koni's, hence my recommendation to go with D-specs ment for the Z. Just to say it avoid 03-04 oem Z shocks at ALL costs.

Problem is, when we make compromises with our part choices doing the right thing can be difficult as in more time consuming and more expensive. IMO, I actually don't recommend drops past 1" on shock and spring setups unless you invest like I did in shocks that have shorter body and piston rod lengths.

You shouldn't have a problem...you can always use the 245/35/19 up front instead of the 245/40/19

I'm running the first size...
