Default Rear Shocks: Scraping Noise

I've been going crazy trying to figure out what the hell is making this annoying scraping noise from the rear shocks area... It started happening when I replaced the stock shocks with the koni yellows. I know I have everything torqued/installed correctly and I've just about had it with the jacking up the car, removing the rims, taking the shocks off, etc... It makes the scraping noise when going over mid to large bumps or dips. I can make the noise go away, but would have to blast the radio all the way up...
I don't want to go deaf soon.

Has anyone had this problem before??? Any info would help.
Thanks in advance.
Mike

Is it both sides of just one side?

I would jack up the rear with a jack stand using the diff as your jacking point and raise the rear tires about 1/2" off the ground and "IF" you can safely, twist the jacks relief valve quickly to simulate a mid bump and listen for the noise to maybe ID it better. Otherwise I would pull the shocks and compress them by hand and see if their operation seems normal. Last resort is to reinstall the oem rear shocks to see if the noise goes away. If it does, contact Koni and have the shocks warrantied.

I have pulled the shocks out to compress them by hand and they seem to work fine. I don't think the shocks are the problem. I had a friend drive while I was in the passenger seat facing the back trying to find the noise, I am now think the noise seems to be coming from the top of the shock by the cap/screw area..., but I have the top nut tightened already.

One side does it more than the other side.

no it's not the tires. the scraping/creeking noise sounds the same if it's going fast or slowly over a speedbump. It sounds like it's coming from inside the trunk area at the top of the shock.

I tried putting the stock shocks back in and they too make the noise. What gives??? They didn't do it before...

If anyone has had this problem and found a solution, please help.

might be your sway bar bushings. if its a high pich squeak, take off your sway bar, and grease up the rubber bushings. also up front too.

I greased up any and all the bushing I could find and see that might be the culprit and no luck.

I figured it out. I put some silicone on the threads in the top cap bushing area (inside the sleeve) where I keep thinking the noise is coming from and let it dry overnight. Today I do NOT hear this annoying noise anymore.
A little silicone will do wonders. I just thought I would let everyone know if anyone has this problem.
