Default JIC FLT-A2 vs Tein Flex. What to buy?

I have seen a lot of comments on Tein flex Coilovers, but not too much about JIC. I am looking specifically at a set of FLT-A2's. They're used with 1000 miles on them (so he says).

Anyone run these or used to run them? How do they compare to Tein. I looked at the website and the Teins are a bit stiffer, but the JIC are a lot more money at retail about 500 more.

Anyone know anything about JIC's?

Thanks

im running the jics... theyre nice in my opinion. ive never had the flex on my z, but many of my friends [s13,evo...etc] run the flex. personally, theyre both good and cant go wrong on either. but for some reason ride is a bit more, for the lack of a better word, 'bumpy' with the jics... but it could be my dampining or something

I prefer the flex over the FLT-A2's on a street car. The JIC's were a bit rough.

However FLT-A2's are DEFINITELY superior to the Tein for racing.

Well,...........having witnessed the Q&A session you did leading up to your purchase, you’re not qualified to make that statement.

I have ran both the JIC's and the tein's. Although I am not a fan of either one of these (especially for a street car), I would go with the stiff JIC's, Just get a back brace as well when you install them, Hahahaha

Both are junk. Lesser of two evils? Tein as the JICs are absolute trash unless on a perfectly smooth track. Do a search, and you'll see the nightmare experiences with the JICs - Teins don't have as many bad threads since they aren't tracked as much.

Best suggestion? Go with a set of Konis.

https://my350z.com/forum/brakes-and-suspension/56791-do-not-buy-anything-from-jic-usa.html

Search around here and other sites - you'll find out they're low quality dampers masked with high spring rates. I find it hilarious that I saw Jon K on TV the other day after he scams everybody on these products and also how he tried to scam me out of a bumper cover. JIC is an abortion of a company.

I havent personally tried the FLT-A2's, but I have some people say they are bouncy, stiff, noisy..etc...etc. Others love them.

I have to be honest, in that most people that purchase fully adjustable coil-over setups rarely take the time to test-tune them on the track, and dial them in so that they compliment your driving style, tire package, and rest of the chassis. Most don't want to pay extra to have them corner balanced either.

I can't tell you which one is better, but I can tell you that we've been very pleased with TEIN Mono Flex's, and the SRC's on the track, and on the street. Are there better coilovers out there...absolutely so, and usually at much higher price. But characterizing Tein Mono's or Tein SRC as "junk" is not accurate, IMHO.

John, you are correct, in that TEIN uses a stiffer spring than most, but I feel their dampening is fairly good. And when running R-Dots, with a heavy car, they work very well. No significant bounce, that I can detect, and some of the tracks we go to have nasty surfaces, such as the old RA, the old RR, and CMP. I did take quite some time to get the setup to my liking, however, which is to be expected.

John is a very seasoned track guru, so he can probably turn good times, even with stock suspension and tires. Perhaps it would be better to spend some time on alignment, chassis setup..etc..etc. I am sure a good chassis guy could make any coil over work pretty darn well.

This might seem retarded but put flta2's spec'd for a g35 coupe on a z. Hard rubber rear mounts and softer spring rates. But seriously use the search function.

Yup-I ran FLt A2's 10/12K for 30+K miles. VERY stiff on the street I swpped because at 30K the shocks were tired and they bounced too much. Even new,the dampening was lacking some. These coilovers once dialed in for me were good thoughbut had a NASTY tendency for snap oversteer at the limit, even when running front shocks at 7 and rears as soft as 2. Not very confidence inspriring but did handle well once you get used to them.

I now run 14/14k MONO Flex, and love them. Stiffer springs but they dont feel that way the dampening is much better. I love the EDFC, and when drag racing on slicks I can fine tune to my liking. Overal, these are better suited for my style of driving and power, they understeer at the limit slightly, and for me thats perfect because oversteer is a 1/2 throttle away...with sway bars Im positive I can dial it neutral or even some oversteer but Im happy with the switch.

Love my Tein Flex w/EDFC. Great on the street, and have worked great in AutoX as well. Have yet to track on them...
