Default Playing with Caster

This goes out to the people using aftermarket A arms with adjustable caster. (SPL, SPC, etc...)

I am just getting into the suspension of my Z so I am still learning. (currently using bilstein PSS9 kit with a moderate drop, and corner balanced)
I know that tuning suspension is an art, and not everyone is going to be the same because of their setups. Also not everyone has upgraded their suspension components for track purposes. Some for show, some for go and some for daily driving.

What spec's are you guys running, & why?

Couple things that I have noticed.

The lower you drop your car the caster will increase, seeing that there is no factory adjustment for front caster & camber.

Our cars seem to run a bit more caster from the factory 8deg, where other cars comparable to ours seem to run 5-7deg.

I know that more & more people are buying A arms with adjustable caster but I am having a hard time finding out what people are doing with them. I recently picked up SPC arms and I am thinking of adding some negative caster to bring me closer to ideal factory spec of 8.17deg.

I know that having more positive caster does, does help in straight line stability. But I also understand the more positive caster you have, your camber comes more into play on your turn in.

Thoughts?

Are you saying to bought the Pss9 setup to track with? Knowing the specs, not something I'd find enjoyable, no offence.

Haven't seen a single member here or elsewhere that has a camber arm setup that adjusts caster, mention that they backed off the oem caster specs.

I have Cusco front arms. But, "IF" I had SPL or SPC front arms, I would like to experiment with 2 degree's less to see what effect it would have on tire temps, on tighter lower speed corners.

Front caster is on a fixed plane that does not have a up or down curve in relation to suspension movement. It is my understanding, where it will change with lowering relates to lowering one end of the car more then the other.

My Z is more of a toy than anything else. Might see the street once and a while, but most of the wear and tear is going to the track and back, and I don't have much time to do that either.

There are not too many Z/G's that are lowered around where I live but the ones I do see tend to look a bit too springy in the *** end, I am sure they were lowered for looks.

I know you are quite vocal in the suspension forums Gsedan35, I have read allot of your posts. I have seen your posts regarding the bilstein kit, and it did have me a bit concerned before I went ahead and bought it.
Having put over 13hrs of street and track time on these I am actually quite happy, these seem to have more shock than spring, and that is what I was looking for, similar to stock but better & adjustable I never did mess around with the dampening, I just left them at 5 the whole time. The only thing that felt harsh was going over bridge expansion joints.

My caster is not equal L to R, most likely do to the corner balancing, but it is greater than factory ideal which I believe was do to lowering (although I have no before specs to compare with) Like I said my lowering was moderate (similar to what hotchiks springs will do) but now with the SPC parts I have a bit more freedom with ride height. And the adjustability with regards to alignment.
