Default Calling all owners with Wheel Spacers/adpaters

I have the 20/25mm setup. I was wondering if you guys have the same problem at high speed - The car shakes and vibrates above 90 mph. Seems like more in the rear as the vibration is concentrated through the whole body of the car, not so much in steering wheel, but still vibrates. Before without spacers, the wheels were smooth, balanced. The car runs smooth under 90 mph but once it hits this mark, you just don't want to go any faster. Notice anything like this guys? Any info would be great. Thanks

The Wheels Spacers are Hub centric and all lugs have been torque down. I've had these on the car for a month now but never got the car above 90 on regular days. This weekend I went to Holloween Horror taking the interstates and I was afraid to go past 90.

what brand of spacer do you have? I have a set of ichiba and a set of H&R. The ichiba have about 1mm gap around the outer of the hub centric and H&R fit in perfectly. I'm now worry to put the ichiba on my Z.

Make sure you've got the Hub Centric Rings on./ built in or add on.

yeah..forgot about that. are your actual spacers hubcentric..some aren't. I got the H&R rears 25mm and eibach 20mm front and they are hubcentric.

Hub centric spacers are the only way , but for the OP what wheels do you have , are they hub centric too.

no weird vibrations here. have 25mm project kics with hubcentric spacers installed on the rears (haven't gotten around to installing the front spacers yet doh).

I had Project Kics of the same size and mine had no vibration up to 100+mph. Sound like the spaces might have pushed the alignment out of spec. Get a new alignment.

Spacers have nothing to do with alignment.

Thanks guys for your inputs. I'm running the stock 6 spoke touring wheels. I think I'll have them rotate the front tires and High speed balance all four. Its weird that its only noticable after 90+ MPH. Below that, everyday driving, its fine. I remember taking her over a long bridge hitting, 130+ and was smooth as can be. This was 3 months ago before spacers. If they're the spacer causing this, wouldn't you feel it much earlier like at cruising speeds of 40-60 mph? No matter how fast I accelerate, as long as I'm under 90+, its smooth. It has to be a balancing issue. Maybe I knocked off a stick on weight going around them curves while dropping the clutch in 2nd. LOL I always retorque them afterwards but never really drive past 90+ unless on bridges or interstates. Thanks again.

BTW - How did you guys torque the front adapters/spacer on without having someone press the brakes? I had to use a cross bar between two studs (with lugs on to prevent messing up the treads) and the other end to the ground to hold and anchor the hub in place to torque them down. I would like to recheck the fronts but got to get someone to come hold the brakes, unless there's another way. I don't like the cross bar way as it puts major pressure on the lstuds.

Pushing the wheel out more of the hub wouldn't augment the a camber or toe setting that's barely within spec?

+1, offset can definetly have an effect on camber. Just look at the rear suspension for a second, and you would see how moving the wheels out away from the suspension would lead to an increase in load on the springs, which would then cause the camber to alter. The change might be small, but it would still be a change.

1 degree is 1 degree, it doesnt matter if its 1 inch from the source or 1 mile away. Its still 1 degree. It just looks like more of an angle while its over a longer distance , IE , when you have spacers on.

Distance is a factor into that. 1 degree camber setup closer to the hub would be greater if the wheel was pushed out.

Read my post above , its true. Test it out, its not hard, it just takes a little drafting to draw up a diagram.

I use to have 15mm H&R spacers on the rears of the stock 18's and had it up to 150mph with no vibrations of any kind.
