Default Satisfied Pro Ceramic Pad shim question thx guys

i have a noob question. 1st time changing pads and i just finished everything but using the guide, it says to use the oem shims, the inside ones have 2 pieces and the outside has 1. now the satisfied pro ceramic has a big metal piece on the back which i believe is the shim, now im not sure if i still have to add the oem shims or can i discard them? anyone have any advice? thx alot.

Oem shims are actually frequency tuned to match oem pads. Using them on other pads may be much worse to near equal depending?

The slots in the metal are the major tuning mechanism, with an elastomer such as nitrile rubber used as a damper.
The metal actually changes with age so new oem shims every 70k are a good idea if lowest noise is desired.
