When installing your kits did any of you use any kind of thread lock on the mounting points of the caliper or brackets? I have the project mu kit which I installed and it came with washers for all the bolts. I have had the kit installed for about a month now with now problems but was just curious to see if some of you were taking this route.

Thanks

The Stop Tech kit requires thread lock on the caliper brackets. I use it. I personally don't believe thread lock serves any real purpose on bolts that are going to be torqued down with ungodly force to begin with. If anything, it's redundancy. Now on smaller delicate bolts that are torqued down with inch lbs, that's a different story. I've had cases where they vibrate loose because thread lock was not used.

On bolts that do not use a lock washer, we include thread lock. Most factory applications use either a lock washer or thread locker on their caliper mounting bolts and we maintain those methods when we develop kits.

im not sure what the technical name for the washers were, but the look like a standard washer with grooves in the surface of it to help bite into the matting surface. It wasn't a conventional lock washer.

You're probably talking about a serrated belleville or wedgelock washer.

Lock Tite not necessary, & the washers are called crush washers, least that was what my local stealership calls em .52 cents each

Didn't use thread locker on my GREX kit. Had them on for a good 15-20k miles, and i took the caliper off this past weekend to check the brake pads. The bolts were still waaaaaaay tight, so I'm not worried about it.

I just followed what the Stoptech instructions said and used the supplied Loctite.

loctite is cheap insurance, especially for track goers. it's hard to imagine just what can shake loose when your car is at 5-7k RPM, turning left and right and going in whatever direction all day.
