Default Braces Material

Hey guys, i wanted to know if any of the braces could be made out of stainless steel square tubing, instaed of aluminum. I ask this, because I can weld steel, but i don't have teh tools to weld aluminum. And what i want to do is make all the braces for my Z, such as fender braces, lateral braces, tie braces, etc. And for my other car as well. And itwould be much more cost efficient. What are the downsides of using stainless steel other than weight issues. Thanks.

Theres really no reason you couldn't make them out of steel, although like you mentioned they will be much heavier.

Some of the bends may be harder to reproduce also.

I can only think of weight issues. Not sure if aluminum gives more, like it would need to flex a little under pressure. But that would defeat the purpose. Unless it is ment to give some for our cars.

Are you planning on making the bar type that will be hollow or just thinner solid bars?

Cro-moly's strength to weight ratio is greater than aluminum...
