Default cost of rebuild on tein basics

interested in picking up a set of basics for a pretty good price, but kinda high mileage (25,000) So I was interested in getting them rebuilt. not even sure what happpens to them in a rebuild so I dont even have a ball park guesstimate price.

any price or numbers I can call to inquire would be of help.

thanks in advance!

you need to call Tein - I'd imagine it's not even worth the cost relative to what they sell for brand new

WOW!!!!!

ok a BASIC rebuild is $75.00 dollars per shock. which includes oil and gaskets

if they have to replace a:

piston $60.00 per shock

Dust boot $10-12 per shock

Grommit $10 per shock

They stated that if everything were to be repalced on it that it was $300 per shock... so thats $1200.00 for tein basics.

Also you pay for shipping each way.

makes sense - the individual costs are always going to be more than assembled unit, and then you have shipping costs, serving costs, etc

they are insanely affordable new...it's your best bet

Next question: do you think that tein basics will need a rebuild after 25k or not?
They are not damper adjustable so that might make them last a little longer.
I know there are a lot of variables, but lets just say that none of them are blown and just had regular wear and tear.

sorta, but thats like getting a soda at a restaurant and then paying more for the refill than the original soda itself. Makes me a little upset. I am not really in the market for coilovers right now but found them for three hundred. it is sorta one of those ultra cheap impulse buys

what costs more on a per unit basis, the single soda at the restaurant, or the unit price at the supermarket when you buy a bottle? The single beer at the bar or the 6 pack at the liquor store? Same thing

dont get me wrong I totally understand your point, but you also have to factor in all the parts that you arent paying for when you recieve the rebuild. Also that you already bought the tein suspension, maybe a little customer loyalty would be nice

i can also see that from the business end it is more profitable to make them buy new ones, because it is less of a hassle to sell ones already boxed up and they need new shocks so most people will say I might as well get brand new ones and pawn off the old ones

i just bought a set of kw variant 3's for my g and am looking to get rid of the basics i have on the car now. the new parts havent arrived yet but i will be taking the basics off this weekend. if you or anyone else is interested in purchasing these please shoot me pm. i plan on selling them on ebay but will give someone in the community first dibs on them for a fair price. the basics only have 3,000 miles on them and look the part as well (i never drive the car in any inclament weather). just a heads up.

$75 per corner is very respectable. It's very rare to have other costs, takes something out of the norm to need a piston replaced.
