So ive recently noticed this with my car. If im driving in a straight line, and let go of the steering wheel and gas, the car will continue to go dead straight. However, the steering wheel itself is a bit off. Its turned to the left about 2-3 degrees or so and it bugs the hell outta me. I was thinking that it could be tire wear? theyre kinda old and worn and i have new ones coming this week so i was gonna wait and see, but do you guys think i need an alignment or is something else off?
Interested in knowing more of this as I am experiencing the same thing. I lowered my car a year ago haven't had an alignment because the car drives straight. However the steering wheel will be off a few centimeters.

yeah im gonna be getting an alignment this thursday. Most likely its tire wear, but i picked up a brand new set of Volk RE30's with new tires so im gonna be mounting them prior to the alignment so ill see if that was the problem or not

As a person who has aligned thousands of cars I can say that any shop that doesn't straighten the wheel when doing an alignment should be out of business....its part of it.
When you set the Toe (last thing you set in an alignment) you first center the wheel. the important part that many miss is to lock the wheel in place (if you don't, it will move when you break the tie rods loose). This is part of it. If your wheel isn't straight your shop isn't doing their job.
They actually make devices specially designed to hold your wheel in place while the toe is set.
Some older heavy duty trucks had a separate adjustment just for centering up the wheel. But no newer passenger vehicles do. Its part of setting the Toe
