Default WANTED: Coilover install DIY for 350z/G35

I've been searching for a DIY or some detailed install instructions on here and g35driver, but can't seem to find anything. I swear I've seen some threads with pictures and some detailed steps, but maybe it was for other cars. If anyone knows of a detailed DIY for coilovers for a G35/350z, please link.

PS: I know it should be straight-forward, but just in case, since I am a noob.

The basic way you install coilover's is the same as how you install shocks and springs. How you set the height and or set the length of the dampers is where things differ.

Any how to directed at a coilover install would need to cover the following.

Adjusting height with system's that do so with spring preload (Tein Basic, Tein CS, Kw Varient's 1,2 & 3, Bilstein PSS(9) ect.

Adjusting height with systems that do so with full height adjustability and run the rear spring in the oem location, (Cusco Zero1, 2, Tein Flex, Bc Racing, Megan, Apexi ect) Remember that rear damper length needs to be adjusted even though it does not effect rear height. Adjust it's length to set rear spring preload and to maintain proper piston stroke.

Adjusting height with systems that do so with full height adjustblity and are a true coilover design in the rear.

Whoa! That last one is a helluva nice thread! So much so, that it has given me confidence to install my new Nismos myself. I had obtained a shop's quote just today! The only other thread I had found is http://www.350zforum.com/tech/NISMOS...uspension.aspx . It is very detailed, but not as intuitive as the one you listed above.

But my Nismo fronts did not arrive with the springs pre-loaded onto the shocks which, as it appears, is the opposite of how it is supposed to be since fronts are meant to be installed onto the car in one step, not two (like the rears are). I may have to get a shop to load my front springs onto the shocks.

Youve brought up a good point man. This will be my first spring/shock/coilover install and the physical install makes a lot of sense now that I've read through several of these DIY's, but I am still a bit clueless as to how I will be adjusting the height initially. Also all these words like "preload" and etc aren't helping. I thought that I'm just getting coilovers with height adjustability and damper hahahaha!

Please shed any light on these things unless you're just making them sound more complicated than they are.

I'm putting on BC Racing coils, Cusco A arms and SPC rear toe bolts when i get them all after the weekend. I'll be doing it on a G35 coupe and the service manual shows several cotter pins and nuts that need to be replaced after each disassembly on the front and rear suspension assemblies. Do people actually replace these or just reuse the old ones?

Just wanted to bring this thread back to life because I know I'll now try to install my own. Doesn't look all that bad and that link is extremely helpful!
